2. Introduction
Afghanistan is located within South and Central Asia. It is
bounded by Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in the
North, China to the Northeast, Pakistan to the East and South,
and Iran to the West.
Kabul is the Capital of Afghanistan.
The Climate of Afghanistan is Arid and Semiarid; Cold winters and
hot summers.
Its population is 36.7 million (est in 2019).

Pashton, Tajik, Hazara, Uzbek, Aimak, Pashaie, Turkmen, Baloch,
Sikh and Hindu ethnic Groups are there.

99% of Afghans are Muslims.
1% are Hindu, Sikh including 500 to 8000 Christians.

Men wear Kurta-Pajama with covering head by turban, Pakul
or Karakul cap.
Women wear long skirts, and cover their head by using shal.
When they are going outside, they are wearing Burka which
cover their all body.
In Afghanistan Men and Women wearing clothes that covers
their all body, they are not using Shorts.
Men and women get together separately in weddings and other
special occasions.

The national sport of
Afghanistan is Buzkashi which is
played by Horses with a Headless
Goat carcass.
Other sports like Cricket,
Football, Free fight, etc. are also
played and has good
achievement on world level.
8. Meals Etiquette
Kabuli Palaw is the national dish of Afghanistan.
Nan (a special kind of bread) would be present in all kind of
meals.
As an Islamic nation, alcoholic drinks are not popular in
Afghanistan.
The popular drink which is mostly served is Doogh/Turwi or Lasi
which is made using yogurt, water and mint.
Invitation must not be refused.
They are not using their shoes inside of their rooms.
Three or four persons are eating together in one dish.

Pashtu and Dari are the official languages of Afghanistan.
Other languages are:
o Uzbaki,
o Hazaragi,
o Turkmani,
o Baluchi,
o Pashai,
o Nuristani and a little Hindi and Arabic.

Women have been a marginalized group in Afghanistan, they are
responsible for household duties.
Men take the role of the bread winners.
Only 10% of Afghan women can read and write.
Cultural restrictions lead to difficulty accessing education and health
services.
Afghan women are important contributors to household income,
especially in rural areas.
Most of the marriages are arranged by their families and parents.
12. Public Etiquettes
Handshake and hugging are the
most common forms of Greeting.
They always enquiry about each
other health, business and other
daily activities.
Women and men are never shake
hands with each others.
Long time Eye contact should be
avoided between men and women.

Respect age and seniority.
Whistle and wink are the bed
habit in public.

In rural areas most of their houses are made from mud,
having a series of rooms.

Afghanistan is a Muslim
country, so it has more
religious festivals like;
o Eid-ul-fitr,
o Eid-ul-Adha,
o Eid-e-Melad
o Nabi,
o Shab Barat,
o Muhram-ul-harm and
o Nawroz Day.
17. Conversations and Networking
They are doing verbal communication, speak
slowly.
Touching a person has no matter in time of
communication.
They are not expressing disagreement
directly.
They prefer to be addressed by their
surname.
