1. Treatment for ‘CV1’
‘Where it’s hard to keep safe’
‘Who knows who to trust?’
‘Where trust doesn’t exist’
The lead character is an 18 year old afro-Caribbean male from Coventry; his mother is single
alcoholic parent living on benefits. Jahmal is a well-respected person in his group of friends, but he is
sixth-form dropout. Jahmal makes his money by engaging in illegal activities such as selling drugs,
selling stolen goods and partaking in jobs from small violent jobs from the ‘boss’.
In the first scene Jahmal socialises with his gang members and heads to the park, he sees another
boy wearing the same gang colours as his peers, so they approach him, they find out that he is from
the same area and they allow him entry into the gang because he is showing support by wearing
their colours, so they get acquainted, his name is Charlie (The Wasteman). Moments later a member
of the gang called Ricky looks into a house window, and sees a Nikon camera left on the table. While
the gang aren’t looking, Ricky takes the camera and makes a run for it as soon as the alarm goes off
along with the rest of the gang. Jahmal gets caught by the police, they arrest him and take him down
to the station and interview him, and they get no evidence from Jahmal so he is released by the
police. Jade (from Hackney) outside the police station approaches Jahmal and questions why he was
in the police station and Jahmal walks off and doesn’t reply. Jade tells the gang that Jahmal has been
talking to the police and the gang text each other. Soon after, Ricky gets caught by the police so the
gang thinks that has Jahmal snitch on Ricky so they all meet up, including Charlie and go looking for
Jahmal. They find him and peer pressure Charlie into killing Jahmal and they give him a knife. Robert
pushes Charlie onto Jahmal and Charlie accidently stabs Jahmal in the heart and they all run away,
Jahmal falls to the ground and the gang runs away.
