This document provides information about Salto offline doors and audio options for a webinar. It summarizes that Salto offline doors can increase security and safety through features like lockdown and access control while providing huge cost savings compared to fully online door systems. Offline doors take 10 times longer to install but use typically 1/3 of the hardware cost compared to online doors. A typical setup example shows using a combination of a few online doors and many offline doors can save over 50% of the total cost for access control on 30 doors compared to using all online doors.

Editor's Notes
Good Afternoon, Welcome to the Salto Offline doors Webinar!
My name’s Jon Harker here at AIT, welcome to everyone, wherever you are.
Before I start there a few important points about how to use this Webinar tool.
If you have any technical issues contact my colleague Louisa Inman, her details are on the slide in front of you o r you can use the instant messaging tool.
We’re going to run this muted as it’s much easier to manage large groups this way, it helps keep the momentum going.
If you’re going to be here be here 100%, so no checking e-mails, turn off phones, if you fully engage you'll get the maximum value out of the session.
There are three ways you’ll be interacting today:
This is for closed questions, yes/no. type questions. Just press the button to raise your hand.
Don’t worry about putting it down I’ll do that.
So can we have everyone's hands up to make sure you’re all listening intently?
Pretty self explanatory here.
I’ll use this for Open questions,
So lets’ make sure you all know what you’re doing. Can everyone let me know what's the weather today where you’re from??
This is an example of what a Poll will look like, multiple choice answers. I’ll run one in a moment.
So lets get going….
This webinar is about Access control, so what do you have in place?
Kick off with a Poll to see who has what!
Multiple Choice (One Answer)
What level of Electronic Access Control do you have in place?
All doors
Most main doors
A handful of doors
Just reception
Nothing...yet
Pick what fits best to you.
Are you a fort Knox or is there room for improvement??
What are the Advantages over Keys??
Access control still has the same benefits as Keys:
Reduce theft
Deter intruders
Protect Staff & Students
Lockdown- Instantly lockdown the school if a threat has arisen, protecting your staff and students
Roll call- Instantly know who’s in and out
No Changing of locks – What happens when some loses a key? The locks have to be changed!, overtime that cost really adds up. How do you know no one has copied a key?
Identify individual movements- Who was last in the server room? Has the cleaner really worked 3 hours? Who is late?
Restrict/Limit access- Stop anyone walking just walking in, restrict Access after work hours, Limit contractors to only work where specified. Black list a lost card, no need to change the lock.
Hands up if you agree A/C is better than Keys?
Type in the chat box why you think organizations havn’t implemented this yet???!
Obvious one: Cost, Budgets
ROI, Big brother, no one told them, they don’t know about it. Building restrictions (no drilling into walls etc)
So here’s a typical Access Control set up, and one of the reasons it’s not on EVERY door you typically need:
Reader
Controller
Network
Maglock
BGU
RTE
Putting all these element on to every door makes it expensive and is more onsite disruption.
Online doors- all the elements I just showed you so takes 10x longer to install
Offline doors- you may be familiar, battery operated, much cheaper, minimal disruption.
So traditionally, how do the offline doors receive updates of rights, restrictions and cancelled cards? Someone has to physically walk around to each door ever single time with a device that updates them. This takes valuable time and resources and is compounded by more doors and users. Managing these and updating them can be quite burdensome in their own right!!!
Salto developed and patented the SVN system, whereby the transfer of information and updating is done by the users card. Your ID card is updated by the Online door with everyone’s Access Rights, then when you pass through an Offline door all that data is transferred to it and vice-versa. Saving a lot that time and resources and enables you to save money by having more offline doors utilized. So….
What would this look like?
Very Basic example setup for a building
All Exterior doors are Online,
All interior are Offline so the Offline doors are always updated. Hugely reducing cost.
If these were all online doors it would be a lot more expensive
How expensive???
Taking into consideration your poll on that cost is a big factor, how can we make this cost effective???
Type into the chat pane how much you think an online door costs-just Hardware??
-Readers, Controllers, Power unit, Maglocks, BGU, RTE
Don’t worry about getting it wrong just a rough figure.
All online is a significant cost that could stop a project before it starts.
Using Salto’s SVN and Offline though is almost a third of the cost and think what you could do with that extra £27k
I hope you all can see the numerous benefits of SALTO’s Offline system.
Why not book a free site survey today??
One of our engineers will visit and carry out a site survey and consultation, FOC, no obligation.
Book a site survey today and see how much money you can save with Salto’s Offline doors.
I hope you found that useful.
Thank you very much for your time, really appreciated and I look forward to hearing from soon.
