Mongols war tactics
- 2. Once upon a time, there lived a young Mongol warrior
named Paul who was training to fight for Genghis
Khan.
- 3. Genghis Khan hoped to take over all Asia so he only
wanted the best of the best. Paul hoped to be the
best
- 4. Paul was first assigned to a tumen (group of 10,000)
men. Genghis Khan used the decimal system to
organize his soldiers.
- 6. As Paul began training, he heard of the keshig, an
elite group that had the honor of guarding the
Mongol Empire.
- 7. Genghis always divided local tribes up into different
units to avoid alliances so Paul had to make all new
friends.
- 10. Even the horses had armor which protected
vulnerable areas such as the forehead.
- 11. Paul thought the neatest thing about the horses was
the fact that they were used in a postal mail system
across the whole empire!
- 12. Early on, Paul learned he had a skill for archery.
When the armor was too tough for arrows to pierce,
Paul would shoot at the horses.
- 14. A unit practiced teamwork and battle skills by
encircling a herd of animals and killing them.
