1. Dixie Swim Club is a hoot at the Alhambra in JAX -
Jacksonville events
There has never been a show that created so much hilarity at the Alhambra Theater & Dining as
there was at the Gala opening of The Dixie Swim Club. There are 5 female actors who capture the
attention of men and women alike. Get ready to bust-a-gut if you plan to attend this funny upbeat
comedy.

Lisa Clarson (the energetic Sheree), Patti Eyler (Dinah, the serious lawyer), Elizabeth Rothan (The
sexy, provocative Lexie) and Lisa Valdini (as the ex-nun) are all seasoned actresses who are no
2. strangers to the Alhambra stage. These ladies command your attention as they make you chuckle
until you cant laugh any more.
Brooks Anna Hayes Meierdierks (Vernadette) deliver the funniest lines with her southern draw and
haphazard injuries which make you wonder if it wasnt for bad luck, she wouldnt have any luck at all.
Its uncanny how Ms Brooks can deliver a line and keep a straight face. Imagine Paula Dean as a
theatrical role & if she could tell us how she really felt.
According to Managing Owner Craig Smith, the Alhambra also received a call from Jamie Wooten
(one of the original writers of the show and writer/producer on the much-loved television series The
Golden Girls), who gave him her blessings for a successful running show.
Imagine Menopause the Musical without the music, a little bit of the Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya
Sisterhood, and mix that with a little bit of The Golden Girls and you have The Dixie Swim Club. As
each character comes to the stage, they give a brief hilarious and informative account of what had
happened to them during the previous year. These women gathered together once a year to support
each other. Their catchy mantra, The faster we swim, the sooner we win, is recited by the group a
few times during the performance.
As the years progress the ladies reminisce about the good-ole-days, trying times, and reflect on the
challenges and future escapades that may come. These same events may even happen in our own
lives. The show is all about relationships, camaraderie, friendship, memories, hardships and a little
rivalry.
Take a look at the Lists article to get a gander of the delectable meal that Chef DeJuan Roy has
created just for this southern hospitality show. Have you gotten your tickets yet?
