    3. 3. You Have Been Trolled  Encyclopædia Dramatica: “A troll, most commonly encountered on the internet, is any person who purposely causes controversy in a web community and disrupts s**t for his own amusement.”  Can happen outside the internet, too  Term may have derived from fishing terminology
    4. 4. The Good, The Bad, and The Anti  The Good:  Done in a sense of humor and good fun.  Giving voice to opinions that may be unpopular or controversial, but still valid.  Usually lets the victims in on the joke.
    5. 5. The Good, The Bad, and The Anti  The Bad:  Done in a sense of mean-ness or lack of regard for people’s feelings/sanity.  Just there to start @ $*!! and then laugh about it.  Usually the result of having no life and nothing better to do with their time.
    6. 6. The Good, The Bad, and The Anti  The Anti:  Also possibly in need of a better hobby, or some anti- sensitivity training.  These people can be troll feeders, whiners, or (eek) trolls in disguise.  There is a proper way to be anti- troll.
    7. 7. Example  Trolling Being a prick on the internet because you can. Typically unleashing one or more cynical or sarcastic remarks on an innocent by-stander, because it's the internet and, hey, you can.  Guy: "I just found the coolest ninja pencil in existence."  Other Guy: [aka Troll] "I just found the most retarded thread in existence." From urbandictionary.com
    8. 8. Good Trolls may be trying to prevent this kind of thinking…
    9. 9. … or they may just be out to have a good laugh… with you, not at your expense--otherwise they’re a …
    10. 10. … BAD TROLL!!!!!
    11. 11. Examples  Cyberbullies  Teachers (Today’s Lesson: Life Sucks)  Just plain jerks  Frustrated people using the Internet’s anonymity to act out their problems  Bored people with nothing better to do  People looking for attention
    12. 12. Newsgroups: alt.fan.harry-potter,  From: Thomas Madura <Thom-Mad...@worldnet.att.net>  C-C-C-Cainman wrote: > ENOUGH already with all this Harry Potter crap! >What sort of LOSERS think> this stuff is cool??? I >swear, the little shit should be carved up with >rusty scythes and his remains poured into a cement >mixer.I am so sick and tired of hearing about Harry >butthole pussy POTTER! Gee - its so nice of you to visit here. You are just the ticket - a person in self denial for his actual love of Harry Potter. All your ranting cannot hide that fact. You came here because you aspire to be more like him - maybe even be his friend. That you resent his celebrity is just part of the process. Eventually you will come to realise that you can admit liking him - and be more like him. I am sure all here will do eveerything in our power to help with your transition.
    13. 13. Anti-Trolls  Don’t feed the trolls (i.e. take the bait).  If there is a troll infestation, admin and troll spray may be required.  If you have been trolled in good fun, laugh, and admit…. YOU HAVE BEEN TROLLED!  If you cannot handle trolls…
    14. 14. Be excellent to each other, dudes! Don’t be bad trolls.
    15. 15. BTW…
