Nursing Philosophy and Contributions Essay.
Nursing Philosophy and Contributions Essay. My personal philosophy of nursing has
changed from ‘the purpose of nursing is to promote health, growth, development, and to
prevent diseases or disability,’ to ‘the purpose of nursing is to promote health, growth,
development, and diseases/disabilities, in a holistic manner.’ I realized that, in providing
nursing care, it is important for a nurse to consider the spiritual, socio-cultural, and physical
needs/aspects of the patients.Nursing Philosophy and Contributions Essay. Therefore, I
decided to include the holistic part of nursing care provision to my personal philosophy of
nursing. This philosophical change is related to the concept of decision-making. It is
important for a nurse to consider the spiritual, socio-cultural, and physical needs of a
patient, because they assist in setting the goals of health care provision and deciding and
recommending the best method of health care for the patient.Nursing Philosophy and
Contributions Essay.ORDER A PLAGIARISM-FREE PAPER HEREWhat I have learnt from the
course that will enable me work effectively as a team member in the profession of nursing is
that, the nursing process is a decision-making framework that follows a well-defined
sequence, and provides a systematic way of analyzing problems and situations. Since a
decision-making process does not involve one individual, I have learnt that, I will need to
consult constantly, my colleagues, my juniors, supervisors, and other health care personnel,
whenever I will be required to make complex decisions concerning a patients’
health.Nursing Philosophy and Contributions Essay. Moreover, having known that, the
nursing process is a decision-making framework, I will ensure that, I develop harmonious
work relationships with my colleagues, and my patients, in order to facilitate effective
analysis of problems in a team setting, within the nursing profession. On the other hand,
what I have learnt from the course, which will enable me work effectively as an individual
contributor to the nursing profession, are the ethical practices that, nurses should reflect in
patients’ care delivery. I plan to practice these ethics while delivering care to patients,
during my profession. These ethics will allow me to deliver care to patients without defying
their personal ethics, or defying the principles of health care institutions, which I will work
from, during my nursing profession.Nursing Philosophy and Contributions Essay. My
Personal Nursing Philosophy “Philosophies of nursing are statements of beliefs about
nursing and expressions of values in nursing that are used as bases for thinking and acting.
Most philosophies are built on a foundation of beliefs about people, environment, health,
and nursing” (Chitty & Black, p. 298). By using person, environment, health, and nursing as
a guideline to achieve the ultimate goals of nursing; I will discuss my personal philosophy
and how these factors are used in nursing.“The concept of person refers to the recipient of
nursing, including individuals, families, communities and other groups, regardless of their

because I always have had a desire to serve and educate others and nursing, which has
given me an opportunity to do that. Nursing is a rewarding career that gives the greatest
opportunity to save lives, comfort, and care for them. The nursing profession tends to run in
my family and have inspired me to become a nurse as well. This profession is the most
demanding and helpful profession in the world. Many elements at the core of nursing
require technical knowledge and skills. According to the National League of Nursing, the
core values are caring, integrity, diversity, and excellence (Core Value: National League for
Nursing, 2007). I believe the core of nursing is care, as simple as caring seems;
fundamentally nursing is about caring for people.Nursing Philosophy and Contributions
Essay. My vision for myself as a nurse is that I will care for all patients holistically. I will
allow the patient to participate and input ideas into his or her care. I will allow patients to
incorporate some of their experiences from their personal lives, and alter my care based on
those experiences. I will see the patient as a unique human being and treat all patients with
respect and dignity.Nursing Philosophy and Contributions Essay.Personal Philosophy of
NursingMy personal definition of nursing is taking care of my patient as a whole; using my
knowledge, being compassionate and caring, respectful and honest. Taking care of the;
spiritual, physical and emotional aspect of the patient, and taking into consideration their
family and environment. Learning about the different theorists I associate myself the most
with Hildegard Peplau. Peplau believed that the relationship between the patient and the
nurse was focus of attention, rather than the patient only as the unit of attention. (Chitty &

Essay. Not being afraid to question doctors as well as the nurses about their care, asking for
a 2nd opinion if they don’t feel quite right about a diagnosis. Patients should educate
themselves on their disease process along with collaboration of the physicians and nurses.
Patients should know why they are on their medications, I have seen countless times were
patients have no idea what their taking and why their taking their medications, their
response because the doctor said so this is not good enough. I also believe that many of our
physicians and nurses have failed our patients looking at them as just a body not an
individual. We should encourage screenings, early interventions (education) to help prevent
or reduce diseases. By doing these things I think we can help to reduce patients
hospitalizations, healthcare costs and risk of infections. Prolong the lives of our patients
help them to live a healthy and long life. There will be a few challenges ahead for our
healthcare system and the nursing profession: 1. The Aging Population- (baby boomers will
be hitting retirement age).Nursing Philosophy and Contributions Essay.Personal Philosophy
of NursingThis paper explores the personal philosophy I have as a nursing student and what
I intend to convey throughout my nursing career. A philosophy is “an analysis of the
grounds and concepts expressing fundamental beliefs (Merriam-Webster’s online
dictionary, n.d.). Before entering into any profession it is important to evaluate your
personal philosophy about the profession, as it pertains to values and principles in which
believe in to guide your practice. The field of nursing is more than treating a physiological
ailment, but it involves providing quality care for the individualized needs of each patient,
hence being client centered. My philosophy of nursing integrates the importance of
knowledge base practice of medicine, combined with addressing holistic needs of the
patient and family, including the physical, psychological, cognitive, emotional, spiritual and
social care (Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network, 2010). Nursing Philosophy and
Contributions Essay.Additionally, a vital aspect of nursing is effective interpersonal
relationships with other healthcare professionals to promote quality patient care.
Moreover, my philosophy includes the importance the client-nurse relationship to aid in
health promotion to prevent illness and increase the level of health of clients.Factors
Influencing the Development of Personal PhilosophyMy philosophy is based on my personal
values and beliefs as it relates to the body of work in nursing. The practice of nursing not
only involves applying knowledge but the ability to differentiate the needs of the client and
being empathetic to their needs. Hence, the importance of holistic nursing and not only
being for the client but for the clients family as well.Nursing Philosophy and Contributions
