2BCT Chili Cook-off October 27th, 2012 (in conjunction with the Haunted Hotel)– Who: Open to all– What: Taste samples of the Brigade’s best Chili Recipes and vote for your favorite – help us determine who brews the best cup of chili– When: 6:00 – 7:30 PM, 27 October 2012; Setup for Competitors is 3:30 – 4:30 PM.Where: In the concessions tent of the Haunted House– Cost: Free to all– Interested in submitting a pot of chili? Talk to your FRSA before 22 OCT. Competitors must bring 1 x slow cooker of chili, 1 x serving utensil, and 1 x extension cord. Competitors must submit ingredient lists (without quantities) to their BN/SQDN FRSAs before 22 OCT and complete the food handler safety course found at http://www.drum.amedd.army.mil/clinics/envhealth.htm Directions: From Iraqi Freedom: Straight on Iraqi Freedom to Tigris River Valley. SACKETS HARBOROct 19-27Sackets Harbor Central School parents are organizing a haunted walk full of local ghost stories and lorein mid- to late October to raise money for the district’s music department. The trail, which will lead fromthe Sackets Harbor Battlefield along Main Street, will be modeled after one in Kingston, Ontario. Themusic department is looking for actors to tell the ghost stories at different points of the walk.The walk will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 19, 20, 26 and 27. A child-friendly trick-or-treat night hasbeen set from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 25. “The stories will be a little watered down to not be so scary,” Mrs.Elliott said about the children’s night. The stories will center on history and local paranormal sightings.The battlefield stop will include tales of hauntings from a faceless soldier. Participants will follow cloakedguides to each stop, where a storyteller dressed in black will tell a local ghost story about the place.“There will be some surprises along the way,” Mrs. Elliott said. Concessions will be available, and Mrs.Elliot said free child care will be provided. The walk will start at the red barn on the battlefield near theparking lot. A campfire will be built there to attract participants. The cost to participate in the walk is $5 foradults and $3 for students. Where can I get my tree or wreath? North Country Spouses’ Club members can pick up a 3 ft. tree or medium wreath at the clubs’ November luncheons. We also welcome donated trees and wreaths from organizations outside our membership. If your organization would like to purchase their own tree simply buy a tree or wreath of ANY SIZE and decorate it. What do I need to bring that day? You need to bring anything that will make your tree/wreath work properly (extension cords, wreath stands etc.) these items will not be provided for you by North Country Spouses’ Club.
