PRE COLONIAL AND COLONIAL TIME

                 HACHA CURRENCIES
APRIL, 1620 1627

   1789
With the First Politic
Constitution, the same
confederation maintained the
aspiration of the President
Flores, Ecuador is called the
"State of Ecuador in the Republic
of Colombia." It was urgent the
necessity of coining the own
currency and tackle the crisis
caused by the movement of
foreign currency, counterfeiting
and in particular to assert the
national sovereignty of Ecuador.
President Flores authorized by Executive
Order that permitted the movement and
trade across Spanish coin or currency of
the new American states, except the
"real" coined in the House of Popayan.

In this same decree provides for the
admission of Granada currency, this must
be presented to the Mint of the Capital
and be stamped on the reverse the
initials "MDQ" in handwriting, and
interlaced. This coin is the precursor of
the Ecuadorian currency. The applied
countermark seen in coins minted in
Bogotá in the dates 1820 and 1821 and
these coins are known in Colombian
history.
