1. Grade 9 Week Without Walls
Year of the Zombies, No Names, and
The SAVAGES!!!
2. THE SAVAGES!!!
Each group came up with a team name, after much
debate (and a very vided memory of lord of the flies) we
settled on The Savages or as our amazingly awesome
counselor, Maggie, says “Savvies”

Front Row: Nikita, MAGGIE, Alexis
3. Caving
After a LOOOOONG bus ride, we finally
settled into Qing Yuan. First thing we did? I have never been caving before
Cave exploration. Oh how I love WWW.
in my life. I was, dark, creepy,
and really interesting. We were
kind of freaked out, it was a new
experience that I learned a lot
about myself. I learned that I
don’t like the dark, but I love
exploring.

4. Teaching
Another opportunity we had in Qing Yuan: We got to teach some of the
children at a local school. I will never forget this, the kids were so
bright that we could find a way to teach them, even if no one in our
group was above CSOL1. We taught them animals. First we would show
them flash cards and teach them the words, then we taught them “old
McDonald” Katherine and I walked through the isles goofing off, and
making animals sounds when appropriate, I think we may have been
laughing harder than the kids. I learned something about myself, I love
teaching and enjoy it.
5. Biking
After teaching we went on a beautiful bike
ride, the mountains, people, villages,
chickens, and all. I ABSOLUTLY LOVED IT. I
love biking and don’t get to bike much in
china, so being able to not only bike but see
the beautiful scenery was too good to be
true! The only drawback? My butt hurt so
much in the morning. This was one of my
favorite actives because it is something I
don’t get to do in Shekou.
6. Rock Climbing
This was the hardest, most challenging
thing for me on this trip. I am afraid of
heights, so before I climbed, I set a goal “ I
will reach that point before I come down” I
am disappointed in myself to say I didn’t
reach my goal. I got about 10 feet up
before I began to tense up, and beg to be
let down, not even halfway to my goal. I
wish I could have gone back, and done it
again knowing what I know now, I don’t
feel like I pushed myself at all. But
considering this is impossible at the
moment, I need to acknowledge that every
inch off the group is just that: an inch of
the ground, a achievement. So I will
remember this and do better next time.
7. FRIENDS
No matter what happens the best part of WWW
every year is spending time with friends.
