                               History: Britain Since 1948

   1. What do you want them to know / achieve?
factual knowledge & understanding of aspects of British life since 1948;
identify changes within and across the period;
give reasons for the changes they have identified;
select and combine information from more than one source of information;
make links between the changes and the causes of the changes, and describe in some
detail;
use sources critically within the enquiry to reach and support their conclusions about
changes;
develop skills in note taking

   2. What do they want to know / achieve?
what happened after the war; how and why the war ended;
how our parents used to live; music and fashion
develop research skills – particularly ICT



   3. What is your current interest in / knowledge of this area? How can
      you make use of this and of your other interests / talents?
political / human nature interest – use to develop understanding of changes and reasons
music – use of personal record collection
personal history – share experiences, pictures, artifacts
need to develop time-line of events: personal research – visit library / Internet search



   4. What is your pupils’ current interest in / knowledge of this area?
      How can you make use of this and of their other interests /
      talents?
recent, personal history – own lives, lives of parents etc.
using different sources of info – ICT, reading, discussion
personal choice via project: focus on art / music / fashion / sport / technology etc.



   5. Are there any possible cross-curricular links?
Citizenship (U5 and U7): human rights, equality
Music (U19) songwriting; history of pop music




   6. Are there any opportunities for projects / visits / exhibitions etc?
Parent / grandparent interviews;
end of unit project based on decade of personal choice
class museum and timeline of artefacts gathered from home
