Zabbix is an open source network monitoring software. It began as a project by Alexei Vladishev in 2001 to create a better monitoring tool and has since grown significantly with a team of developers and over 30,000 users. Zabbix allows for monitoring of servers, networks, databases and other IT components and helps identify and fix problems early. The talk discussed Zabbix's history and growth, key features, design principles focusing on quality, and new features planned for the upcoming Zabbix 2.0 release such as improved performance, low level discovery, and JMX monitoring.
