Before we designed our app, we researched on some existing apps on app store. Here you can see the feature table comparing our app with some other apps. We tried our best to complete more functions while other apps do not. As you can see, our app has more features than others. Although we do not have the sound recording function, it is capable on playing multiple notes at one time, and the pitches are corresponding to the height of the water. Both of our app and the bottle music have the water level adjustment feature, however, our water adjustment function is more realistic. On bottle music app, you can only control the water level by tuning slider, while you can actually tilt the screen like you are adding water to a glass on our app. The one thing that we need to improve is our scale numbers. I will say our scale numbers are decent now since we have a complete octave. But adding more scales will of course allow the users to have more flexibility. One last and the best thing is that our app is free!!!!!
Our app can be better if we increase more features on it. We are thinking that first, adding different instrument sounds so that the users can form a little symphony orchestra with their phones. And as I mention previously, increase the number of scales/pitches. And on the tilt water function, now we just present the water with blue areas. In the future, we can use the physic engine to mimic the water animation more realistic. Also, if we can do the multitasking the users can play the sounds along with their own music. If we can do sound recording, the users can share their composed music with their friends. And of course, our final goal is submitting our app to the app store so people can download it and have fun!!!!
Overall, we have successfully implemented our app with desired functions. We have turned our phones into mobile glass xylophone with correct pitches. If we add more features on our app, our app maybe a mobile symphony orchestra in the future.
