Charlotte was the eldest child of Henry Moss SKILLING (1832-1875) and Jane GOVER (1837-1876).
Henry Skilling died young (age 44) and his wife Jane had to move into the Chertsey Workhouse
where she died. At the time of her death, Jane Gover SKILLING asked that her eldest daughter care
for her youngest brother, Aubrey, but he died shortly after his mother. Henry and Jane SKILLING
had 7 children:
Charlotte Ann Skilling was born 7 Nov 1856 at Windlesham, Surrey, England and died 15 Oct 1891
in Manitoba, Canada.
Henry M. Skilling was born in 1857 in Surrey, England and died in 1885.
William Moss Skilling was born 17 Nov 1863 in Surrey, England
Walter T. Skilling was born Sept 1866 in Surrey, England
Samuel Moss Skilling was born in 1870 in Surrey, England
Ada Lydia Skilling was born 20 Jan 1871 at Windlesham, Surrey, England and died 15 April 1935 at
Hamiota, Manitoba, Canada.
Aubrey Skilling was born in Aug 1875 and died in Aug 1876.
James GORING married Charlotte Ann SKILLING (1856-1891) on 16 June 1879 at Chertsey, Surrey,
England. Following their parents' deaths, the Skilling children were scattered amongst Jane Gover
Skilling's relatives.
According to the 1881 Census, Walter Skilling was living with his uncle Samuel GOVER's family in
Woking, Surrey, England, and Samuel Skilling was living with his aunt and uncle, William and Mary
ANSTEAD in Walton On Thames, Surrey, England. Youngest daughter, Ada Lydia Skilling was a
servant to the family of Henry James Caulder in nearby Weybridge. Unfortunately I haven't been
able to locate the two eldest boys Henry or William SKILLING on the 1881 census, although Henry
was recorded as dying in 1881 in Kingston, Surrey.

2. In the 1881 British Census, James and Charlotte GORING are living in Walton On Thames, Surrey,
England with the eldest daughter, Ellen Elizabeth GORING (1879-1928).
James and Charlotte Goring's children were:
Ellen Elizabeth GORING was born 07 Nov 1879 at Oatlands Park, Weybridge, Surrey, England. She
married Thomas BRADSHAW 23 November 1894 in Manitoba, Canada and had 9 children. Ellen
Elizabeth Goring BRADSHAW died 24 Aug 1928.
Ethel Amelia GORING was born 15 Apr 1881 at Oatlands Park, Weybridge, Surrey, England. She
married Henrich Wilhelm ZARN and had 12 children. Ethel Amelia Goring ZARN died 28 Nov 1959.
David Henry Thomas GORING was born 16 Nov 1882 at Oatlands Park, Weybridge, Surrey, England.
Arthur GORING was born 15 Nov 1883. Right now, unsure if born in England, or Ontario, Canada
(where the GORINGs stayed with relatives prior to taking up land in Manitoba Canada). Arthur
GORING married Dasie MAHON at 01 Mar 1903 Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. He died Nov 1918.
James GORING was born 07 Feb 1887 Died: May 1962.
Ada Jane GORING was born 02 Feb 1890 Daly, Manitoba, Canada, died c1965, married Henry
Howard OAKLEY 10 Nov 1914 Brandon, Manitoba, Canada.
