Why did the discoveries of the Renaissance make little practical difference to
medical treatment in the period c.1500-c.1700?(12)
Level 1 1-4 marks Simple statements with some relevant knowledge. .
Level 2 5-8 marks Developed statements mostly supported by relevant and accurate material but
explaining implicitly (identifying reasons which meant the discoveries made little
difference to treatments and giving relevant details, but not explicitly explaining
why this made no difference to treatments).
Level 3 9-12 marks Explanatory answer, range of causes covered, sense of grouping ideas into clear
‘causes’. Brief conclusion explains which reason was most important or how two
factors had to work together to make this happen.
