This document summarizes a lifestyle program that uses a triple approach of nutrition, exercise, and supplements to help people attain a healthy body composition. The nutrition component includes a proprietary formula containing African mango and other ingredients to support fat and carbohydrate metabolism. The exercise component emphasizes aerobic exercise. Several supplements are also discussed that may help boost metabolism, reduce body fat, increase energy and muscle mass, including African mango, L-carnitine, and others.
2. This Lifestyle Program is designed to help you
guide your patients in attaining a healthy body
composition through the programs
comprehensive Triple Approach method.
This program is designed to help you make life
long lifestyle changes and not for just short-term
weight loss .
3. NUTRITION:
Support for healthy fat and carbohydrate
metabolism is provided through a proprietary
formula that contains a powerful extract of
African Mango plus 10 other synergistic
ingredients to assist in the metabolism and
reduction of body fat.
4. EXERCISE: Aerobic (with oxygen) An
essential part of a Healthy Lifestyle Program
must include healthy exercise. Exercise
boosts and thereby increases ones
metabolic rate (the rate at which one burns
calories even at rest). As part of the
Lifestyle Program we have included
examples of simple it is highly
recommended to exercise. Without the
combination of Nutrition, diet and exercise
you may not achieve long term success.
5. African Mango/IGOB131 (IrvingiaGabonensis)
Studies conducted by the University of Yaounde in
Cameroon show that the supposed wonder fruit’s
seeds contain an extract that, when consumed as a
supplement, helps patients to lose weight and stabilize
cholesterol levels.
The study was performed by prescribing 102 overweight
or obese adults to take African mango seed extract or
a placebo (inactive sugar pill) for 10 weeks. At the
conclusion of the study, the group taking the African
mango seed extract supplements had lost a total of 28
pounds, while the placebo group had no notable
changes.

7. L-Ornithine is the most potent amino acid
ever studied for stimulating the production
and release of Human Growth Hormone from
the pituitary gland.
HGH is a powerful rejuvenator - its use has the
potential to reverse. The body produces
more muscle and may also increase the level
of insulin the body creates.
8. L-Carnitine assists in turning fat into
energy as it transports fatty acids to
be turned into energy. Some studies
show that oral carnitine reduces fat
mass, increases muscle mass, and
reduces fatigue. All of these effects
may contribute to weight loss.
9. L-Arginine is most often used alongside L-
ornithine to boost the levels of human growth
hormone. Necessary for the production of
protein, L-arginine also helps rid the body of
ammonia (a waste product) and stimulates
the release of insulin.
Arginine is one of the essential amino acids, or
an amino acid synthesized by the body.
Besides improving blood circulation, research
indicates that arginine may be beneficial for
dropping body fat.
10. L-Glutamine - From a weight loss perspective
L-glutamine is an enormously beneficial
supplement. It has also been shown that
supplementing with L-glutamine will increase
the rate of protein and glycogen synthesis in
muscle tissue.
“Dietary glutamine supplementation resulted
in a significant increase in serum IGF-1”
Effects of Dietary Glutamine Supplementation on the Body
Composition and Protein Status of Early-Weaned Mice Inoculated
with Mycobacterium bovis Bacillus Calmette-Guerin.

11. Maca (Lepidium meyenii) is a root plant
consumed as a food and for medicinal
purposes in South America. Maca can
improve your body’s glucose tolerance (blood
sugar levels) so it’s possible maca may help
you lose weight because of decreased
hunger cravings. Because you won’t have
spikes in blood sugar, maca may also help
you have better emotional stability to make
better food choices
12. Niacin has not been shown to cause weight
loss directly, but rather indirectly by reducing
stress and increasing energy. You need
energy in order to have the endurance to
exercise and shed pounds.
Optimal energy can help you to have the
motivation needed to burn fat. Niacin plays a
major function in releasing energy from
carbohydrates, proteins and fats, so that they
are better utilized by the body.
13. Pygeum Africanum - Traditional healers
and tribal folk medicine practitioners in most
African countries have also made wide use of
the tree bark in the treatment of disorders
such as inflammation and prostate
disorders. It also contains Beta-sitosterol
which is used for heart disease and high
cholesterol.
14. Beta-Alanine - The American College of
Sports Medicine suggests that as the amount
of beta-alanine in your muscles increases, so
does your level of strength and endurance.
Researchers in England gave 2.4 grams of beta-
alanine a day to 12 older men and women;
they gave placebos to 14 others. After 90
days, those who took beta-alanine saw a 67%
improvement in their fitness compared to a
22% improvement in the placebo group.

15. Rhodiola has also been shown to boost energy
and fight fatigue by raising levels of muscle
glycogen during exercise. Glycogen is a
primary source of energy for anaerobic activity
such as resistance training. It can significantly
reduce lactic acid buildup, a major source of
muscle cramping and discomfort.
By improving overall energy expenditure,
rhodiola contributes to a greater number of
calories burned, and thus improving the
effectiveness of a single workout.
16. Astragalus increases energy and improves
nutrient absorption. Researchers at prestigious
institutions in China, Hong Kong, and the UK
have found that two compounds in astragalus
root: astragaloside II and isoastragaloside I,
have a very selective action on fat cells. These
compounds stimulate the fat cells to release a
hormone called adiponectin.
17. High ORAC [anti-oxidant rich] greens food
that will help to quench the free radicals
that may be produced during the fat
burning process.
A study from the University of Florida found
that eating plants high in phytochemicals
(and antioxidants) is effective at reducing
the amount of oxidative stress in the
body, and therefore able to lower the risk
of gaining unwanted fat.
(Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics; Oct 2009)
18. B12 helps give you a great energy boost.
While this may not take off the pounds in
itself, it can get you up and moving. Many
people don’t exercise because they’re just
too tired at the end of a long day.
B12 boosts your metabolism. This means that
you digest your food faster and burn more
calories just by sitting there. And the more
calories you burn, the fewer calories you
store as fat.
19. Studies have shown that consuming the proper
amount of some minerals can have an effect
on metabolism and fat burning
20. During the fat burning process stored toxins
and metabolites are released into the blood
stream. You need to optimize Phase I and II
in the liver and then convert these released
toxins into a water soluble form that can then
be eliminated in the urine.
21. • MCT Oil - When it is metabolized in the body, it
behaves rather more like a carbohydrate than a
fat. The fuel of preference for the body is
carbohydrate, and the body will use up its store
of carbohydrate before using other fuels.
In addition to their lower caloric content than LCTs:
• MCTs are not stored in fat deposits in the body as much
as LCTs.
• MCTs have been shown to enhance thermogenesis
• Minimally stored as fat
• Contribute to enhanced metabolism to burn even more
calories.
22. Adiponectin send signals to various organs in your
body that enough food has been eaten and it’s not
necessary to look for more. It instructs your liver not to
convert its stores of glycogen into glucose. This helps
keep blood sugar levels down
It instructs fat cells that it’s time to respond to insulin to
take glucose and fatty acids out of your bloodstream.
This is one more blood sugar lowering effect that also
keeps arteries from getting “clogged” with fat, it also
tells your brain that enough food has been consumed
and reduces your appetite.
23. Adiponectin is a protein hormone that
modulates a number of metabolic processes,
including glucose regulation and fatty acid
catabolism.
Adiponectin is an important adipocyte-derived
hormone that regulates metabolism of lipids and
glucose, and its receptors. Levels of the
hormone are inversely correlated with body fat
percentage in adults
24. One chemical you want to get rid of is called
glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase. The enzyme
that turns blood sugar into fat. Glycerol-3-
phosphate dehydrogenase serves as a major link
between carbohydrate metabolism and lipid
metabolism.
African Mango has been shown to moderate
glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase enzyme
activity to reduce the amount of ingested starches
that are converted to triglycerides and stored as
fat.
25. Leptin (Greek leptos meaning thin) is a hormone
that plays a key role in regulating energy intake and
energy expenditure, including appetite and
metabolism. It is one of the most important adipose
derived hormones. When things are running
smoothly, your fat cells produce leptin.
This messenger sends out two signals: One, it tells
your brain you’re full. That slows down your hunger.
Two, it tells the fat inside your cells to breakdown into
a kind of fat that can be burned as energy.
26. When these signals are working, you don’t get
hungry as much, and your body can burn fat as a
source of fuel. That means fat gets burned naturally.
But when too many fat cells build up, a protein called
CRP sticks to the leptin and prevents it from
delivering its message to your brain.
This is called leptin resistance. The bottom line is
you’ll feel hungry, and the fat inside your cells will
stay there
