3. Production manager.
This job is administrative, because they are in
control of everything that goes on throughout
the the pre-production and post-production
process. During the pre-production stage their
daily duties will include to make sure that all the
cast and crew are ready for the production
stage and that the film is in budget. While
during the production stage they will still have
to make sure the budget is under control while
still making sure that the film will be of a good
standard. They will have to work with the
director.
4. Costume designer.
This job is creative, due to the imagination they
have to use in order to create costumes for any
time period. The costume designer will be
needed for the pre-production stage mainly and
this is when they will research and design the
costumes. Although, sometimes they will be
needed during the production stage to fix any
costumes. They will have to work with other
crew members in the wordrobe department and
the cast and they will have to be able to
cumunicate about their costumes.
5. Film Editor.
This job role is mainly editorial but could also be considered as
technical. We know this because they are the final film editor and
have to have the skills needed to be able to put a film together in
order for it to be shown to people and make sense to the
audience. The editor is normally not involved in the preproduction or production stages of the film making. Although,
they are the most vital part of the post production, due to the fact
without an editor there would be no one to go through all the
footage which was filmed and edit it to make sense to the
audience. The duties and responsibilities of being a film editor is
to edit the film and make sure the film is sending out the
message or meaning that the writer and director wanted during
writing and filming. The film editor normally doesn’t work with
any one else during the editing process, although in some cases
the director could have an exact image of how they want the film
to come out and look so it is possible for the director to be
involved.
6. Lighting supervisor.
This job is mostly organizational, as they will have to
make sure all the lighting and people working on
them are in order or place. Although, it can also be
technical. This particular job role is pre-production
and partly production, this is because they will need
to be there while the set is being built and while the
film is being filmed, as something could go wrong
with the lighting and it could need to be redesigned.
They will have to work with the other crew members
that specialize in lighting. On a daily basis, during
pre-production they will be designing the lighting
positioning and making sure all the shots will have
perfect lighting for what they want to audience to feel
and see.
7. Director.
This job is managerial, because they manage
what the all the cast do on set. Their job is
mostly production, although sometimes they
also work with the editor post production. We
know this because their job includes working
with the crew, but they have to work especially
closely with the cast as they will have to
respect the director in order to take on their
instructions (production). On a daily basis they
will make sure everything on set, is working to
schedule and going well.
8. Boom operator.
This job is technical, as they will have to know
all the technical information about how to
operate the boom. They will only work on the
production part of the film making, as they are
only needed for the filming. On an average day
they will have to plan where to stand and hold
the boom, also making sure they and the mic is
not in shot. They will have to work with the rest
of the crew on a daily basis, but mostly the
camera operator. This is because they will have
to be aware of any movement during filming, as
nothing that’s not meant to be in shot can be.
