1. Windows 10 Details: Release Date,
Information and Everything else
Microsoft is celebrating its 40th
anniversary and the co-founder Bill Gates is excited about the company’s
potential growth with all the things Microsoft is planning to come up with this year and in the near future, but if
there’s one thing you as a consumer should be thrilled about then it has to be Microsoft’s brand new Windows
10 Operating System and we have all the Windows 10 details for you.
Yes, it’s a huge jump from Windows 8.1 and while everybody expected Windows 9, there are some reasons for
jumping ahead. Microsoft first presented Windows 10 in April last year at its 2014 Build conference. It was
further unveiled during a media event in September 2014, officially named as Windows 10 and is currently
available as Beta Preview for those who signed-up for Microsoft’s Insider program. If you haven’t been
following all the developments surrounding Windows 10 then you might have been missing some great
improvements promised to take over and change Windows family forever. Read on to get a comprehensive
understanding on the best Windows OS from Microsoft, Windows 10.
Preview and Updates
The first thing that you need to know is that Windows 10 is different. Yes, the changes might not be huge on
the visual front as the majority of the look and feel still maintains its Windows 8/8.1 Metro design, but the
functioning has been immensely improved. If you haven’t been a fan of Windows Phone operating system then
there’s some good news. With Windows 10, Microsoft is eyeing to keep everything synced between your
Windows Laptop/Desktop, your Windows Tablet and even your Windows smartphone. Every Microsoft product
will now share and follow Microsoft’s universal application architecture, which simply means your Windows 10
experience will be the same whether it’s your system, your tablet or your smartphone. This will be similar for
the general design; the basic functioning, the programs, the features and even for Microsoft’s Xbox family and
for the Windows Store. These will not only offer customers with a unique universal experience, but even the
developers will have a good time developing universal applications and softwares for one unified OS.
To offer you a quick refresh on what some of the features and changes the Windows 10 will be offering, here’s
a small list:
2. New Start Menu: The Start Menu is back, but is more functional than before.
Better Start Screen: Pinning your favorite apps will be fun, plus you can sync these apps with your various
Windows 10 running devices.
Project Spartan: Internet Explorer has always had a love hate relationship with the users (more on the hate
side), but the new Windows browser (codenamed) Spartan, things are about to change. The new web browser
has learned a lot for the rivals, plus it offers some great new features.
Improved Action Center: Microsoft’s Windows team has improved Action Center on Windows 10, which is a
refresh from Windows for Phone, but better.
3. Entertainment: Your Photos, Music, Videos, Maps and even your Games will enjoy the Windows 10 treatment.
For all your gamers, the Xbox integration into Windows is a huge step forward. Meanwhile, Photos and music
hub has been redesigned.
Cortana: When Cortana (Microsoft’s Virtual Assistant) first arrived with Windows Phone OS nobody knew that
it will be ready to challenge and even take over its rivals in a very short span of time. Just like the unified look
and feel of the Windows 10, Cortana will not only be present for your smartphone and for your tablet, but she
arrives on your laptop/desktop too.
Windows Store: We already mentioned this above, the Windows Store will now be a one huge shopping
experience across all your Windows 10 running devices.
Availability, Release Date and How to Get Windows 10
Windows 10 is currently available as Technical Preview for those who opted to be a part of Microsoft’s Insider
program. It is a Beta release that will fix all bugs and issue before its official release later in the summer this
year. You can still get the Windows 10 experience on your laptop/desktop or on your smartphone by signing-up
with Microsoft. However, if you aren't confident with Technical Preview, you can wait for its official release.
Microsoft will be offering Windows 10 as a free upgrade to all qualifying new and old Windows 7, Windows 8.1
and Windows Phone 8.1 devices in the first year. However, If you happen to be running Windows XP then you
might have to either purchase a new Windows 10 valid copy or upgrade to Windows 8.1.
4. Windows 10 for Phone
Windows for Phone has had its fair share of growth over the last couple of years and some of its credit goes to
Microsoft’s Nokia devices deal with Nokia that brought Lumia range as family to Microsoft, but there’s no
denying that Windows team has worked hard to gain market share and win hearts of its loyal fans. Windows 10
for Phone follows the same principal from Windows 10 on laptop/desktop and tablets only in a toned down
version. It certainly doesn't mean the Phone OS will be short on features.
