2. • Romans 1:13-17
• 13 Now I want you to know, brothers, that I often
planned to come to you (but was prevented until
now) in order that I might have a fruitful ministry
among you, just as among the rest of the Gentiles.
• 14 I am obligated both to Greeks and barbarians,
both to the wise and the foolish.
• 15 So I am eager to preach the good news to you
also who are in Rome.
• 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it
is God's power for salvation to everyone who
believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek.
• 17 For in it God's righteousness is revealed from
faith to faith, just as it is written: The righteous
will live by faith. (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
4. Matthew 28:18-20
• 18 Then Jesus came near and said to them, "All authority has
been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
• 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit,
• 20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded
you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the
age." (HCSB)
5. Luke 19:9-10
• 9 "Today salvation has come to this house,"
Jesus told him, "because he too is a son of
Abraham.
• 10 For the Son of Man has come to seek and
to save the lost." (HCSB)
6. The Parable of the Net
• Matthew 13:47-50
• 47 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a large net thrown
into the sea. It collected every kind [of fish],
• 48 and when it was full, they dragged it ashore, sat down, and
gathered the good [fish] into containers, but threw out the
worthless ones.
• 49 So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will go out,
separate the evil people from the righteous,
• 50 and throw them into the blazing furnace. In that place
there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (HCSB)
7. MATHETEUO
• Greek word mean: to become a disciple or to be instructed.
• 51 "Have you understood all these things?" "Yes," they told
Him.
• 52 "Therefore," He said to them, "every student of Scripture
instructed in the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who
brings out of his storeroom what is new and what is old."
• 53 When Jesus had finished these parables, He left there.
(HCSB)
8. God’s missionary purpose
• Three key elements of the Gospels:
• the Great Commission
• the Great Commandments
• the Great Compassion
9. The Great Commission
• Jesus charges His followers to make disciples of all
nations by GOING to them.
• Winning the souls.
• Baptizing them in the God, Jesus, Holy Spirit.
• Teaching them to obey all He has commanded.
10. The Great Commandments
• Teach us to love God and neighbor.
• If we love God, we will obey His commands.
• John 14:15 "If you love Me, you will keep My
commandments.
• If we love our neighbor, we will want him to have a
ETERNAL life.
• As we SEEK to imitate Jesus Christ.
11. The Great Compassion
• Jesus had compassion for the crowds who are lost.
• Jesus came to SEEK and SAVE those who are lost.
• We should be lead to go to the lost.
• We should be able to share with lost about Him.
• We should be able to share the gospel, disciple
believers, teach leaders, and plant New Testament
churches/ministries.
12. Five parts to the Great Commission:
• Win the lost (evangelism)
• Build the believers (discipleship)
• Equip the workers (lay ministry)
• Multiply the leaders (leadership
development)
• Reproduce missionaries to all people
(churches/ministries)
