2. After analysing the short film ‘Hallway’ I
found that most short films always start
with the name of the production company.
In this case it would be ‘SickMind
Productions.’ It is shown in a scary looking
font which is in keeping the horror/ thriller
genre.
The name of the short film is also displayed
in a scary way which allows the audience to
identify the genre even before watching
the short film. The title allows us to get an
idea of what’s going to happen in the film
or at least where the film may take place. It
could mean that the film is going to take
place in the ‘Hallway’ or maybe move from
one place to a ‘Hallway.’

3. The film begins with a shot of
what seems to be the main
character getting into her car. She
is in a very dull eerie place which
could indicate the fate of the
character in the end.
The character is then displayed in the
light which could indicate to the
audience that she is innocent and is not
the bad person in this film. She also
looks very vulnerable in this position.
But she clearly has a main part in this
film.

4. She is now in the ‘Hallway’ that we
established would be in the film
earlier on. She seems to be very
worried about something and very
eager to get into the flat. Her face
is not visible in this shot as it is very
dark and shadows have been
formed. This makes it look even
scarier.
The second character has been
introduced as a caring boyfriend.
He seems to want to comfort her.
The room is still dark which adds
a scary feel to the film. If the film
was light it would make the film
feel very different.

5. Her boyfriend is then killed
which challenges the
conventions of a normal film.
Usually the weak ‘damsel in
distress’ is killed first. You see the
blood on his neck but have not
seen the killer as yet.
Then the main character gets
killed. You don’t see her get killed
the screen fades to black. This has
a better impact than just showing
the killing. You also get to see the
killer.

6. The end Credits consist of the
actors names is the same font
as the beginning . Because
there were only 3 characters it
didn’t take long to go through
the cast list.
The next set of credits were things
like camera person and editors and
directors
They then go into more detail,
such as production assistant , and
who wrote the screen play. It is
often accompanied by music that
fits the genre of the film.
