However this does not mean that those LAH have lesser needs – often they have greater needs.”

- The 16+ at Home service builds on Barnardo’s considerable experience of working in throughcare and aftercare. The service uses its pathways co-ordination role to encourage effective partnership working with all parties involved – from voluntary and statutory agencies to young people and their families - in a co-ordinated community development approach. Barnardo’s and CELCIS are collaborating on project evaluation and research in order to maximise the learning from this unique service development opportunity. This workshop will explain the rewards and challenges of engaging with this group of young people, their care support needs and what we all need to do to help improve their outcomes.
- Early findings from the STAF/CELCIS National Through Care & After Care Survey. Responses received from 28 Las. 4-8 local authorities responded with reference to care leavers who were looked after at home. So this is really just an indication, and not necessarily true for the whole of Scotland.

- How has the project worked to engage this group of young people? What helps in motivating young people who have been looked after at home? What did you find were the particular issues around housing and benefits? Most of the young people talked about the value of having someone who tried to understand them and support them. Can you tell us more about how the Barnardo’s project worked to achieve this? What’s next for the project?
