NON ROUTINE PROBLEM Question Kamaland Kabir are brothers. Their father give kamal $5 and kabir $3 each day when they attend to school. But early in the month, Kamal did not attend to school for 4 days because he is sick. So, how many days they attend to school to get the same amount of money and how much the money?
Step 1: understanding the problem You need to find out how much the money that they get the same and how many days that they attend to school to get the same amount of money How much Kamal get a day? $5 How much Kabir get a day? $3 How many days Kabir attend to school more than Kamal? 4days
Step 2: devising a plan How should we approach this problem? What strategy will help here? The question asked about the money that they get the same and also the number of days that they attend to school to get the same amount of money. The strategy that can be use to answer this question is by making a table strategy.
Step 3: carrying out the plan So, based on the table above, the amount of money Kamal and Kabir get the same is $30 when Kamal attend to school for 6 days and Kabir attend to school for 10 days
Step 4: Looking back Did we answer the correct question, and does our answer seem reasonable? Different of day they attend to school: 10 days – 6 days = 4 days Money that Kamal get: 6 x $5 = $30 Money that Kabir get: 10 x $3 = $30 Did we answer the question asked? Yes
