1. The element of ‘self-service environment’
Create or design an organized self-serve environment. In this way, you are giving your
participants or visitors the opportunity to chat and mingle among themselves as they pick
out their favorite items. Aside from giving your participants the options of choosing their
favorites from the menu your have prepared, this is also a way of initiating conversations –
you will surely hear phrases like: Oh, what‟s that you are getting? That looks great! Are you
a vegetarian? In addition to that, standing up and moving around is also more stimulating
than sitting and waiting for the waiter to bring food on your table.
2. ‘Setting up a multiple stations’
You, together with your local social event caterer, should also consider setting up multiple
food stations inside the event venue and each should have a supply of small plates to keep
visitors from getting stuffed on any one dish. For sure, they will love the excitement of
discovering one delicacy after another as they from one station to another. This approach,
as has been proven by experience, can really boost their ability to interact, mix and mingle
as people are going around – making new connections at every turn.
