GEOGRAPHY <ul><li>Situated in Southwest Asia, bordering the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf, between Oman and Saudi Arabia. </li></ul><ul><li>The total area of the UAE is approximately 83,600 square kilometers. </li></ul><ul><li>The largest emirate, Abu Dhabi, accounts for 87 percent of the UAE's total area . </li></ul><ul><li>Maximum temperatures reach above 40 °C (104.0 °F) on the coastal plain during July and Aug. </li></ul><ul><li>Minimum temperatures in January and February are between 10 and 14 °C (50 and 57.2 °F). </li></ul><ul><li>In the oases grow date palms, acacia and eucalyptus trees. </li></ul>

ECONOMY <ul><li>Abu Dhabi was labeled &quot;The richest city in the world&quot; by a CNN article. </li></ul><ul><li>Highest per capita incomes in the world ($49,499). </li></ul><ul><li>More than 85% of the economy is based on the exports of natural resources. </li></ul><ul><li>$350 billion worth of active construction projects. </li></ul><ul><li>We import manufactured goods, machinery, and transportation equipments. </li></ul><ul><li>$360 billion in overseas investments & an estimated $900 billion in assets. </li></ul><ul><li>Lowest Unemployment rate in the world, 0.5% </li></ul>

CULTURE <ul><li>Islam is largest and the official state religion of the UAE. </li></ul><ul><li>Tolerance toward other religions and rarely interferes in the activities of non-Muslims. </li></ul><ul><li>Diverse and multicultural society. </li></ul><ul><li>Of the total 8.9 million residents, Indian (1.75 million); Pakistani (1.25 million); Bangladeshi (500,000); other Asian (1 million); European and African (500,000); and Emirati (890,000). </li></ul><ul><li>Religions: Muslim (96%), Hindu, Christian. </li></ul><ul><li>Languages: Arabic (official), English, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali. </li></ul><ul><li>Alcohol is generally only served in hotel restaurants and bars. </li></ul>

TOURISM <ul><li>Hospitality is the main aspect of UAE people traditions and values. </li></ul><ul><li>Tourism capital on the middle east. </li></ul><ul><li>Most modern of malls, world’s most sought-after brands. </li></ul><ul><li>Desert meets the sea shores. </li></ul><ul><li>Unique natural sites (e.g. islands, oases, and beaches). </li></ul><ul><li>Elite and top classes seeking luxury and welfare. </li></ul><ul><li>Suit all people of ages, like cinema festivals, concerts, sports champions, shopping festivals, culinary events, family festivals. </li></ul>

EDUCATION <ul><li>The UAE has a strong interest in improving education and research. </li></ul><ul><li>Primary schools, Middle schools and High schools. </li></ul><ul><li>Arabic medium with emphasis on English as a second language. </li></ul><ul><li>Public schools in the country are free for citizens of the UAE. </li></ul><ul><li>Illiteracy rate is of 7%, mainly amongst the adult population. </li></ul><ul><li>Thousands of nationals pursuing formal learning at 86 adult education centers spread across the country. </li></ul><ul><li>The Higher Colleges of Technology, offering courses in business administration, accounting, banking, information systems, computers, engineering, aviation technology, health sciences, and entertainment. </li></ul>

HEALTH <ul><li>The UAE Ministry of Health (MoH) provides special medical centers for school children, and health units in every school. </li></ul><ul><li>Tap water is desalinated and safe for drinking. </li></ul><ul><li>There are world-class hospitals and clinics in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other major cities of the UAE. </li></ul><ul><li>Life expectancy at birth in the UAE, at 78.3 years, has reached levels similar to those in Europe and North America. </li></ul><ul><li>The UAE is working with leading global institutions to develop its health care system.  </li></ul>
