2. WHAT IS U.V?
Ultra-violet light is a form of electromagnetic radiation
coming the sun.
The wavelength of ultra-violet light is too short to see, but
if we could, it would sit on the violet side of the rainbow.
Infrared light is also invisible, but its wavelength is too
long to be visible to the human eye.
Other animals can see parts of that spectrum that
humans can’t. For example a large number of insects can
see ultra-violet light.
3. WHAT ARE THE 3 TYPES OF U.V? P1
There are 3 types of ultra-
violet light U.VA, U.VB, and
U.VC
U.VA rays cause skin
aging, wrinkling, and skin
cancer such as melanoma.
4. WHAT ARE THE 3 TYPES OF UV? P2
U.VB rays are also dangerous causing sunburn, cataracts
(which means clouding of the eye lens) and effects on the
immune system. They also contribute to skin cancer.
U.VC rays are the most dangerous but luckily these rays
are blocked by the ozone layer
U.VA can pass straight through the ozone layer, U.VB
rays don’t get stopped by the ozone layer but get reduced
to smaller and less harmful rays.
5. HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM U.V
Wherever you are, the sun it is always shining and this means you can
always get sunburnt. Especially in snowy mountains, there's a high
possibility that you get sunburnt.
When you go outside on a sunny day you should always put on a hat
with over a 7.5 centimetre brim.
You should stay protected in the sun especially in the daylight saving
months (September to April) and between 10am and 4pm when the
sun’s U.V rays are the strongest.
ALWAYS PUT ON SUN SCREEN!!!!!
