Chemical properties can only be observed when a substance changes into a different substance through chemical reactions. Common chemical properties include flammability, which is a substance's ability to burn, and reactivity, which is how readily it combines with other substances. Chemical changes can be identified by a change in color, production of a gas, or formation of a precipitate, and result in a change to the composition of the substance.
