    • What is Poetry?
      • Poetry is a river, poem after poem moves along in the exciting crests and falls of the the river waves. None is timeless; each arrives in an historical context, almost everything, in the end, passes.

    • What is Poetry? My Definition!
      • Poetry is a way to express your feelings about a topic. It is a way for people to say how you feel about a topic. It is like a river of emotion.

    • Haiku
      • COMPOSING A TRADITIONAL JAPANESE HAIKU POEM
      • The 300-year old Haiku Poem has its own distinct discipline:- Each complete poem has only three lines, totalling 17 syllables. - the first line must be five syllables - the second line must be seven syllables - the third line must be five syllables When these rigid conditions are met, the result can be a very satisfying word picture .

    • Diamante A diamante is a seven line poem, shaped like a diamond.       • Personification – giving human characteristics to things which are clearly not human                   
      • The outboard motor cleared its throat.
      • Alliteration – repeating words with the same beginning sound Thomas tied two turnips to two tall trees.
      • Imagery – using vivid, descriptive words to conjure up an image        
      • The car sped. - The flashy, yellow, mustang  streaked like          a bullet along the highway.
      • Onomatopoeia – using words that sound like what they mean

      • Hyperbole – using exaggeration to make a point

      • As four walls make a room the pilgrims appear through their map
      • The unreal flourishes beyond imperious themes and borders closed to laughing
      • And landscapes hold no proof if intention is a sin then dreams are guilty too
      • A blameless geography then,  blameless houses, blameless men, a mistaken faith in color and light
      • Neutrality is to blame for wanting us to agree with its bland gestures
      • So much emptiness to fill until we declare, quite innocently, “There was a city on a river.”

      • I must put it back on, see
      • How much of my glory was real
      • And how much fever.
      • I see drawn eyes, too much marring,
      • A suit of swan feathers

      • I see as I have been seen,
      • Not radiant, but ashine in hope

      • The tips of cream-silk petals bleed.
      • This is what happened to me, then,
      • Being there at the wrong confluence of time,
      • There and shining with no one looking.

      • And the blush bleeds from the petals of my skin.

      • He is 46 years old and was born on February 20, 1962 in Berkeley, California. He grew up in Fresno and San Diego, California.
      • He now live in a big old house in Spokane, Washington, with his wife Ann, son Max and daughter Madison. He has a dog (a black pug named Jesse), two cats named Raki and Sambuca, and a rabbit named Lola.
