  • 2. Sin entered the world asangels fellAdam’s sin is recorded inthe early chapters ofGenesisWas this a literal event or amyth which tries to explainsin?Orthodox Christian beliefsays it is literal and the restof the Bible treats it assuch.

ADAM BEFORE THE FALLThe Bible is simple in the way itintroduces Adam and Eve, andtheir sin, the Fall of man.We do not know how long ittook man to sin - he hadbecome used to Eden havingnamed all animals.They were made “very good’,innocent, they had personalityand an ability to makedecisions / choices.
  • 4. A. ADAM BEFORE THE FALLMan had the ability to sin anddid so after satanic influence.Gen 3:4-7The story of how they sinned isseen in Gen 3:1-6 - they hadbeen told not to eat of onething only Gen 2:17 - thiswould test their obedience.

ADAM BEFORE THE FALL serpent was more crafty than any other beast ofthe field that the LORD God had made.He said to the woman, "Did God actually say, You shallnot eat of any tree in the garden?"And the woman saidto the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees in theMan had the ability toYouand not eat of the fruit of thegarden,but God said, sin shalldid so afterin the midst of the garden, neither shall youtree that is satanic influence.Gen 3:4-7 you die." But the serpent said to thetouch it, lestThe story of how theysurely die.   • 10. B. ADAM AFTER THE FALLFor Adam and Eve sin had some farreaching changes:1. They became subject to spiritualand physical death - Gen 2:17 -separation from God resulted - age,decay and physical death separatesbody from soul2. God’s judgment fell on satan,the serpent shall crawl on theground - Gen 3:14,15 - enmitybetween serpent and man - theconflict of Christ and satan at thecross, “he shall bruise your head,and you shall bruise his heel.”
  • 11. 3. Special judgment on Eve - pain inchildbirth, submission to husband4. A curse on Adam - hard labour of aground now cursed with thorns etc. -creation is changed by mans sin, Rom8:22 - later on Scripture reveals apartial lifting of the effects of sinthrough salvation and of the curse onthe ground in the millennial kingdom.Adam and Eve cast out of the gardenstart to experience pain, sorrow andstruggle - like all humanity since.
