Cornwall College, the Institute of Cornish Studies and MAGA have joined together to set up a new research network for Cornish. The network aims to support work on Cornish on an academic level and bring together information on research completed or under way and encourage new initiatives. A conference to launch the network has been organised for 27th and 28th October and a call for papers issued.

Call for Papers
In this first conference we are seeking to establish
the current research landscape in respect of the
Cornish language. This initial conference will
address an open theme and papers are invited on
topics in the fields of linguistics and socio-linguistics
relating to the Cornish language.
Abstracts (100 to 200 words) to be submitted by
Friday 1st August 2014 to the email address below.
Talks should be planned for up to 20 minutes and
there will be room for discussion of individual or
grouped presentations. The conference will also
provide an opportunity for poster presentations and
presentations via Skype, an abstract of which should
also be submitted for consideration by the same
date.

The Cornish Language Research Network is a collaborative
venture set up by Cornwall College, the Institute of Cornish
Studies and MAGA, the Cornish Language Development Office.
Its key objectives are:
To bring together research on Cornish, at all levels by:
• providing an electronic database for research to include
existing research, news of research in progress, calls for
information and opportunities for collaboration.
• holding an annual conference to provide a platform for
the exchange of ideas and discussion on an academic level,
focussing on aspects of Cornish language and culture.
