Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the holiest month in Islam. During Ramadan, healthy adult Muslims fast from dawn to dusk without eating or drinking, including water. Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam and teaches self-control while allowing Muslims to focus on prayer and get closer to Allah. Eid-ul-Fitr, which means "have a blessed Eid," is the celebration at the end of Ramadan where Muslims wear new clothes, attend morning prayers, prepare foods, and visit family and friends.
