Discovering critical nodes in social networks is crucial for comprehending the structural characteristics, connectivity and importance of its presence in the network. In this paper, we focus on detecting vital nodes which are part of multiple dense sub-graphs and play a major role in connecting other nodes thereby forming a global network. Here, we analyze the data of some major data mining conferences to explore if there exist some nodes which play a major role in submission and acceptance of paper in those conferences. We try to figure out the relationship between the Programme Committee members and the authors and their co-authors. We look for the top authors of these conferences. Furthermore, we mine the patterns in which some authors’ and their co-authors’ papers are being accepted. In order to understand the underlying dynamics of the network over time we examine how these patterns change periodically and with what factors. Lastly, we add to this a comparative study stating the affiliation of authors and examine if local influence of their ethnicity does exists with respect to continents where these conferences are taking place.

Presented at QQML 2013: Qualitative and Quantitative Methods in Libraries International Conference. Rome, Italy. Academic libraries in the United States typically reference proxy server and/or COUNTER statistics to describe the usage of their electronic resources, but we know that a “use” is arguably more than a resource accessed or downloaded. This article employs social network analysis to bridge the typical ways of talking about usage statistics, to provide a context-specific perspective about the mediated use of electronic resources. The article reports on an analysis of data gathered at the Loyola Marymount University (Los Angeles, California) using traditional statistics as well as library reference encounters with patrons during which an electronic resource is mentioned. We use the reference encounters in a social network analysis to examine the relationship between a patron, a librarian, and an electronic resource to more fully describe the use of the resource. This research provides a conceptual model for comparison between traditional COUNTER statistics, proxy server statistics, and the social network analysis perspective. We transform qualitative data into quantitative data in order to develop a grounded theory about the mediated access to library electronic resources.

SALAMI (Structural Analysis of Large Amounts of Music Information) is an ambitious computational musicology project which applies a computational approach to the huge volume of digital recordings now available from such sources as the Internet Archive. It aims to deliver a very substantive corpus of musical analyses in a common framework for use by music scholars, students and beyond, and to establish a web-based methodology and tooling which will enable others to add to this in the future. In its first phase the project has conducted a significant exercise in ground truth collection with 1000 recordings analysed by music students and shortly to be published as open Linked Data.

Delivered by Peter Burnhill, Director of EDINA, at the PRELIDA Consolidation and Dissemination workshop on 17/18 October 2014 (http://prelida.eu/consolidation-workshop). Summary: The web changes over time, and significant reference rot inevitably occurs. Web archiving delivers only a 50% chance of success. So in addition to the original URI, the link should be augmented with temporal context to increase robustness.

Following the popularity of "Cloud Revolution: Exploring the New Wave of Serverless Spatial Data," we're thrilled to announce this much-anticipated encore webinar. In this sequel, we'll dive deeper into the Cloud-Native realm by uncovering practical applications and FME support for these new formats, including COGs, COPC, FlatGeoBuf, GeoParquet, STAC, and ZARR. Building on the foundation laid by industry leaders Michelle Roby of Radiant Earth and Chris Holmes of Planet in the first webinar, this second part offers an in-depth look at the real-world application and behind-the-scenes dynamics of these cutting-edge formats. We will spotlight specific use-cases and workflows, showcasing their efficiency and relevance in practical scenarios. Discover the vast possibilities each format holds, highlighted through detailed discussions and demonstrations. Our expert speakers will dissect the key aspects and provide critical takeaways for effective use, ensuring attendees leave with a thorough understanding of how to apply these formats in their own projects. Elevate your understanding of how FME supports these cutting-edge technologies, enhancing your ability to manage, share, and analyze spatial data. Whether you're building on knowledge from our initial session or are new to the serverless spatial data landscape, this webinar is your gateway to mastering cloud-native formats in your workflows.

Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/why-teams-call-analytics-is-critical-to-your-entire-business Nothing is as frustrating and noticeable as being in an important call and being unable to see or hear the other person. Not surprising then, that issues with Teams calls are among the most common problems users call their helpdesk for. Having in depth insight into everything relevant going on at the user’s device, local network, ISP and Microsoft itself during the call is crucial for good Microsoft Teams Call quality support. To ensure a quick and adequate solution and to ensure your users get the most out of their Microsoft 365. But did you know that ‘bad calls’ are also an excellent indicator of other problems arising? Precisely because it is so noticeable!? Like the canary in the mine, bad calls can be early indicators of problems. Problems that might otherwise not have been noticed for a while but can have a big impact on productivity and satisfaction. Join this session by Christoph Adler to learn how true Microsoft Teams call quality analytics helped other organizations troubleshoot bad calls and identify and fix problems that impacted Teams calls or the use of Microsoft365 in general. See what it can do to keep your users happy and productive! In this session we will cover - Why CQD data alone is not enough to troubleshoot call problems - The importance of attributing call problems to the right call participant - What call quality analytics can do to help you quickly find, fix-, and prevent problems - Why having retrospective detailed insights matters - Real life examples of how others have used Microsoft Teams call quality monitoring to problem shoot problems with their ISP, network, device health and more.
