  2. 2. What is Web 2.0 <ul><li>The term &quot;Web 2.0&quot; (2004–present) is commonly associated with web applications that facilitate interactive information sharing, interoperability, user-centered design, and collaboration on the World Wide Web. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>A Web 2.0 site allows its users to interact with other users or to change website content, in contrast to non-interactive websites where users are limited to the passive viewing of information that is provided to them. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul>Technology </ul><ul><li>Web 2.0 draws together the capabilities of client- and server-side software, content syndication and the use of network protocols. Standards-oriented web browsers may use plug-ins and software extensions to handle the content and the user interactions. Web 2.0 sites provide users with information storage, creation, and dissemination capabilities that were not possible in the environment now known as &quot;Web 1.0&quot;. </li></ul>

  12. 12. Categorization of content by users adding &quot;tags&quot; - short, usually one-word descriptions = to facilitate searching, without dependence on pre-made categories. Collections of tags created by many users within a single system may be referred to as &quot;folksonomies&quot;

  17. 17. <ul>RSS(Really Simple Syndication) RSS is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format. Web feeds benefit publishers by letting them syndicate content automatically. They benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favored websites or to aggregate feeds from many sites into one place. </ul>
  18. 18. <ul>Internet Forum An Internet forum, or message board, is an on-line discussion site. It originated as the modern equivalent of a traditional bulletin board, and a technological evolution of the dial up bulletin board system. From a technological standpoint, forums or boards are web applications managing user-generated content. </ul>
  19. 19. <ul>Blog A blog is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. &quot;Blog&quot; can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add cont ent to a blog. </ul>

  21. 21. What is Social Networking A social network service focuses on building and reflecting of social networks or social relations among people, e.g., who share interests and/or activities. A social network service essentially consists of a representation of each user (often a profile), his/her social links, and a variety of additional services. Most social network services are web based and provide means for users to interact over the Internet, such as e-mail and instant messaging. Social networking sites allow users share ideas, activities, events, and interests within their individual networks.

Linked in Linked In (pronounced /ˈlɪŋkt.ˈɪn/) is a business-oriented social networking site. It is mainly used for professional networking. </ul>

Digg Digg is a social news website made for people to discover and share content from anywhere on the Internet, by submitting links and stories, and voting and commenting on submitted links and stories. Delicious Delicious (formerly del.icio.us, pronounced &quot;delicious&quot;) is a social bookmarking web service for storing, sharing, and discovering web bookmarks.
