Over the next several months, the One Nova Scotia Coalition will be focusing its energies and
efforts on six key areas:
1. Renewing Education and Our Future
2. Our Universities and NSCC as Strategic Opportunities
3. Energizing Entrepreneurship & Innovation
4. Rebuilding our Trading Economy: Going global
5. Responsible Development of Our Natural Resource Advantages
6. Adapting to a Changing Demographic: Retaining youth,
attracting and retaining immigrants, enhancing workforce
participation and aging well
3. Objectives
The Coalition is being tasked with 5 core objectives.
Objective Description
1. SETTING A COMMON AGENDA Define and assess our OneNS population, economic, and attitude
challenges and set common agenda for concerted action across sectors,
defining roles and responsibilities for actions along the way.
2. TAKING ACTION NOW Following each meeting, the Coalition will publicly commit to undertaking
1-2 tangible actions toward achieving the goals and game changers laid
out in the One NS Report
3. DEVELOP A 10 YEAR PLAN Provide oversight and input into 10 year Comprehensive Development
Plan (“CDP”)
4. MODEL BEHAVIOUR Collaborate to foster and encourage concerted broad based action to
achieve the 19 Goals of the OneNS Commission Report
5. COLLECT, CONNECT & AMPLIFY Collect, connect and amplify citizen led initiatives across the Province.
Communicate with and engage Nova Scotians in setting the path for Nova
Scotia’s 10 year comprehensive development plan.
Engage NS to continue planned and ongoing engagement activities in
collaboration with the Public Engagement Support Unit of the Province of
Nova Scotia.
4. Monthly Themes
The Coalition is meeting at a minimum monthly, with each gathering being framed
around a core theme. Citizens from across the Province are encouraged to lead
conversations and actions around each of these themes and contribute to bold action.
