The document describes the devastating impact of Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda which struck the Philippines in 2013. It made landfall in northern Ilo-Ilo and Panay Island, destroying shelters, cutting off food and water, and forcing many people to evacuate to central schools. Roads were blocked and rice crops were devastated. The municipality of Concepcion was heavily damaged, with fallen trees, destroyed houses and establishments near the fishing port. Relief efforts involved volunteers repacking and distributing rice, sugar and other goods to affected households in Concepcion and other municipalities through house-to-house visits, alleviating hunger and hardship.
