- 3. And dogs as we see today was evolved from a small dog, grey. At the end of last ice age, approximately 40,000 years ago, wolves and people living together in groups prey on herds. Wolves and people often argue each other prey, even killing each other. But it's the wolf began to search through the pieces of food scraps left by humans. Humans have domesticated the wolf son and through many generations of hybridization, the wolves evolve into a dog house.
