Usage of “beside and besides”

The word ‘beside’ means ‘next to somebody or something’ and it is a
preposition.
Go and sit beside Rajesh.
My house is situated beside town hall.
My father’s shop is beside the cinema hall.
The word ‘besides‘ may be used as an adverb and as preposition.
‘Besides’ is used as an adverb, for making an extra comment that adds
what we have just said.
I don’t really want to go. Besides, it’s too late.
I have a lot of work to do. Besides, I don’t really like parties.
As a preposition, ‘besides’ means ‘in addition to somebody or something’.
Besides working as an Engineer, he also writes novels.
I’ve got no family besides my parents.
