Mothers Day Bouquets Aren't Just Made With Flowers Anymore Instead of heading to the florist to scan the isles for mothers day roses, head for the candy making department of your favorite craft store and check out the cookie cutters and special moulds to make candy and cookies in whatever shape your heart desires. That's right; using these items you can create an adorable edible bouquet that Mom will rave about for years. I'm talking serious mileage here. Your siblings will be SO jealous.
3. A Cookie Mothers Day Bouquet There are cookie cutters shaped like tulips, butterflies, dragon flies, and more. Maybe your Mom loves bees, so plan your garden themed bouquet around flowers and bees.
4. What You Need Here's what you need: wooden chop sticks or skewers, frosting, clear cellophane, ribbon, a pretty flower pot, or better yet, a flower pot that you painted yourself, and a box of rice (to fill the flower pot and hold the cookie sticks in place).
5. Desired Shapes It's really simple. Using your basic sugar cookie dough recipe (or refrigerated store bought cookie dough), roll out the dough about a half-inch thick and cut the desired shapes. Lay the desired number of sticks on the cookie sheet and carefully place a cookie cut-out on each stick, at least half way up so the cookie doesn't break off the stick when held upright. As the cookie bakes it will become part of the stick.
6. Cookies Cool After the cookies cool, frost with a basic butter cream icing recipe colored with food dye, or for the recipe-impaired, purchase the colors and paint them on. Wrap in cellophane and tie the ribbon around with a bow. Fill the flower pot with rice, stand the cookies in the rice and prepare for the gushing.

8. Easier Solution An even easier solution and just as creative, is to purchase miniature candy bars, i.e. Snickers, Mr. Good bar, etc. and insert a skewer. Get creative and wrap with colorful cellophane. Make curly streamers by attaching curled curling ribbon to a skewer. Stick a skewer into a Hershey's Kiss, and you've just created a bud.
9. A Candy Play around with the idea of how such-and-such a candy can be made to look like a flower on a stick. Another good idea is look at the website of one of those candy bouquet companies and check out all the things they put in their bouquet with the candy flowers. If a friend receives one of those candy bouquets, ask if you can dissect a couple of the ingredients to see how they were created. You'll find it is easier than it looks.
