3. To the west of
Westminster Abbey you can see
Buckingham Palace. It is a royal
residence. The ceremony of the
changing of the guards which
takes place in front of
Buckingham Palace is of great
interest to the tourists.
4. We can see the
Houses of Parliament in
Westminster . It is a
beautiful building with
two towers and a very
big clock called Big Ben.
5. St Paul’s Cathedral was
completed in 1710. The famous English
architect Christopher Wren planned
and built St. Paul’s Cathedral.It is 157
metres in length and 110 metres high
and its bell is the biggest in London
and weighs 17 tons. It took
Christopher Wren 35 years to plan and
build St. Paul’s Cathedral.
6. Here we are in
Trafalgar Square, always a
good- starting point for any
tour of London. The Nelson
monument which is in the
centre of Trafalgar Square is
185 feet high.
7. The Tower of London is
situated on the north bank of the
Thames. It dates from Roman
times and was strengthened by
William the Conqueror. It was at
times a fortress, palace and
prison.
8. Near the Tower is
Tower Bridge. It was built
in 1894. It is made of two
one thousand ton parts
which are raised and
lowered.
