BRAVO! <ul><li>Last year’s ‘communication’ theme was explored with excellence: </li></ul><ul><li>Debating (SLN, MUN, Forensics and Debates, Global Network Conference, Earth focus events Cicero Challenge, etc…) </li></ul><ul><li>Links with local and International organisations (UN,MICR,UNICEF, Jardin de Montbrillant, restos du cœur, Luz y Vida etc…) </li></ul><ul><li>Special school events: World citizen Week, Ecolint-UWC exchange, talent show for Gaza, etc… </li></ul>

  5. 5. Basics <ul><li>SMACK is mandatory for all MYP students </li></ul><ul><li>The people to talk to if you need help: your homeroom teacher, your reflection teacher and the SMACK coordinator (Mrs. Hughes, room 510 periods 4 and 5 every day except Thursdays): [email_address] </li></ul>

Requirements <ul><li>One long-term activity throughout the year </li></ul><ul><li>Two short-term activities (you can use one of your class projects) </li></ul><ul><li>Participating in your international class project (March 2010) </li></ul><ul><li>Proposal form and end of year reflection </li></ul>

Tools <ul><li>Your Community and Service book (all the information contained in this presentation is also there) </li></ul><ul><li>The SMACK board (level 4, outside the bookroom) presents a list of available activities and examples of good practice </li></ul><ul><li>The SMACK fair led by year 12s. An opportunity to sign up for activities you are interested in ( 9th October 2009 ) </li></ul>
  8. 8. New this year… <ul><li>Learner profile theme : Inquirer </li></ul><ul><li>Inquirers : their natural curiosity is nurtured. They acquire the skills necessary to conduct constructive inquiry and research, and become independent active learners. They actively enjoy learning and this love of learning will be sustained throughout their lives. </li></ul><ul><li>Charity of the month </li></ul><ul><li>Each month a charity will be advertised on the SMACK board. As a short term project, you can fundraise for this organisation, individually or with friends. </li></ul>
