3. Important Characters
Mr. Logan: Thinks that Stacey tries to act grown up when he
shouldn’t. Started the fire because he didn’t want to fight
showing that he doesn’t like violence.
Mr. Morrison: Likes the Logan family enough to risk his life
to save Stacey who was trapped in the woods.
Mrs. Logan: She doesn’t like it when Mr. Logan uses gun.
Cares more about her family than the land because she
didn’t want the kids to get hurt in the fire so she wouldn’t let
them help.
4. Important Characters cont.
Harlan Granger: Racist because it talks about how he didn’t
stop the Simms and Wallaces even though they drove by his
house.
Jeromey: Brave and stupid for sleeping in his tree when it
was lightning. Kind for checking up on the Logans when he
saw the fire.
5. Themes
Family Loyalty: When Mr. Morrison and Mr. Logan went to
save Stacey and when they kept the secret form Harlan
Granger that Mr. Logan started the fire.
Racism: When Simms and Wallaces drove by Harlan Granger
and he didn’t stop them.
Disaster: When the fire started and everyone tried to stop it.
6. Events
Talks about how T.J, R.W, Melvin brake into store and R.W
and Melvin kill the store keeper. Then they beat up T.J for
threatning to tell and he goes to Stacey for help. Walking
back to his house T.J gets caught and Stacey hides in the
trees.
Mr.Morrison and Papa go try and save TJ and Stacey.
Cotton fields catch on fire and everyone tries to put it out and
then the rain finally puts it out. When Harlan Granger asked
how it happens Cassie finds out the Mr. Logan started the fire
