Quick Intro to Enki
The Enki Library is a shared open source eBook Network developed by Califa and Contra Costa
County Library. Formats offered are Adobe E-PUB and PDF (no Kindle or audio books).
Three ways to browse for eBooks:
1. Carousel – Selected categories and featured eBooks
2. Keyword Search – Enter keyword, title, subject, author or ISBN to search
3. Advanced Search – Enter different search filters
My Account - This is your account screen. Your checked-out eBooks, Holds, and Wish List are all
displayed in one page. From here you can return eBooks, download or read online.

Check Out an eBook!
When you have found a book you are
interested in, click on its cover or title.
The Book Detail page displays.
Click the “Checkout” button. You will
receive a confirmation and will be taken
to the “Your eContent” screen where all
your checked out eBooks display.
Before downloading it follow the
directions that apply to you:
Read on a Browser: Click on the “Read
now” button. No additional software or
apps needed
Read on a Computer: Download/install
Adobe Digital Editions and authorize it
with an Adobe ID
Read on a tablet computer (e.g. iPad,
Galaxy Tab, Kindle Fire, etc.):
Download/install the BlueFire app and
authorize it with an Adobe ID.
If you already have apps that are authorized with an Adobe ID such as OverDrive or Axis Reader,
you will be able to download/read eBooks from Enki on them. Click on Download and you’ll be
given the option of which app to use.
Read on an eReader (e.g. non-tablet Kindles and Nooks, Sony Reader, etc.): Download/install
Adobe Digital Editions in your computer and authorize it with an Adobe ID. Connect the eReader to
your computer via USB and transfer the eBook from ADE to the device.
Returning a Book Early
If you are finished with a book, please return it right from the “Your eContent” screen by clicking on
the “return Now” button.
