Designer
Your job will entail layout design and design
concepts for our home decorating magazine,
you will be expected to visualize and create
concepts, ideas and execute them to the
final prepress stage. You will need to have a
flair for type styles, colour unity and
excellent proof-reading skills. You will need
to be skilled with In-design, photo-shop and
all other CS5 design programs.
4. This is to provide you the employee with a job
description, to give you insight of the structure
and culture of our studio.
By now you should have received your job
contract and formal offer of employment,
along with pay rates, annual leave, sick pay
and superannuation details.
You should also have received your hours of
work, lunch breaks, and other breaks, starting
time and finishing time, whether or not you
will be expected to undertake overtime and
weekend work and rates of pay.
5. When you arrive on your first day, I would
like you to come to my office, where I can
provide you with further information take
you for a tour of the workplace and
introduce you to other employees.
We can discuss any aspects of the job and
complete any paperwork.
I will be available to support you through the
first few weeks to help you get settled and
understand the nature of the job.
6. I will be evaluating your progress throughout
the first month and offer any training or
adjustments needed during this time.
I want you to feel free to ask me questions
provide any feedback and to discuss any
concerns and aspects of the job.

Provide safe ways to work.
Maintain all equipment, safely store substances and
dispose of dangerous substances safely.
Provide information to the employee of all safety
hazards.
Train employees with skills and knowledge to
perform job in a safe manner.
Check that employees are adhering to work safe
practices.
Provide protective equipment.

Enclosed footwear required.
Appropriate clothing required.
No smoking.
Keep studio areas clean and organised.
Do not come to work if affected by drugs
and alcohol.
Take 2-3 minute breaks every 30 minutes.
No food or drink in work areas.
Report any safety concerns to our safety
representive.

12. Use correct posture to prevent back strain.
Adjust computer screen to eye level to prevent eye strain.
Adjust chair to give correct back support to prevent injury.
Use footrest to give correct leg height.
Check PowerPoint's and chords are not damaged to prevent
fatal accidents.
Keep food and drink out of studio area to prevent slipping.
Wear safety glasses when necessary e.g. if using cutting
tools.
Take regular breaks, to prevent eye strain and back strain.
Report to safety representative if any concerns arise.
Always obey written warning signs to minimise all injuries
and studio hazards.

health and safety representative.
Fill in a accident/incident report form.
See your doctor for work certificate if
needed.
Report any risks or concerns to your health

If an assault occurs report immediately to
