I’m a fan of the telly. I watch TV very often. Actually I can say I “swallow”*
everything on television. TV plays an important role in my life. I can’t imagine
my life without my ‘dear telly’.
On the other hand, I’m also an avid reader. I like to read the daily papers. My
father reads the Sun but I prefer the Daily mirror.
I don’t watch much TV. I’m an energetic guy. I don’t like sitting in front of a
‘box’ watching silly programmes. The only programmes I like are football
matches. I’m a football fanatic. Sometimes I blackmail* my younger sister
Ruby, who loves cartoons, so that I can watch my football team in peace.
I think television is a companion for most elderly people. It plays an important role in
their lives. Without TV they would be lonely and sad.
I can’t imagine my life without a television at home. I watch the news, documentaries,
nature programmes and, of course, I can’t miss my soaps. I also read the Guardian
when I have time.
