2. 1. EmailsDon’t open emails or attachments that come from an unknown source. Even if the email looks like it’s about you.

3. 2. Don’t run free antivirus scansIf you get a message that says “Warning! Your system is infected with viruses! Click here to download & run our free software,” don’t. Those messages arescams!

4. 3. ToolbarsDon’t download any toolbars that you aren’t already familiar with. Google Toolbars are okay. MyWebSearch is not. Generally, free toolbars are just adware in disguise, and they slow down your computer. Yikes! All these toolbars will slow your tablet to a crawl!

5. 4. Personal InformationDon’t give out any personal information to an unknown source. Forexample, sayyou receive an email telling you that the director of “Twilight, The Prequel” wants to cast YOU in the movie, but first you have to give him your social security number. Don’t do it! (No matter how much you want to believe you’re the next Robert Pattinson.) This could be you!

6. 5. Finally,stay away from adult websites. If nothing else, they are virus factories. So just don’t go there.

7. So, to sum up… Use your brain, the one that came with your body when you were born. And use common sense,which did not come when you were born, but comes with experience. And if you still get a virus…come up to the Taub Center and your brain, common sense, we will help you.
