2. INTRODUCTION TO
BEST PRACTICES
O A best practice is a technique that has consistently shown results
superior to those achieved with other means ,and that is used as a
benchmark.
O BENCHMARKING: process of comparing one’s business process and
performance metrics to industry best or best practices from other
companies.
O These are used to maintain quality as an alternative to mandatory
legislated standards and can be bases on self-assessment or
benchmarking.
O Determining "Best" or "Smart" Practices to address a particular policy
problem is a commonly used but little understood tool of analysis
because the concept is vague and should therefore be examined with
caution
3. INTRODUCTION TO
BENCHMARKING
O Benchmarking is used to measure performance using a specific
indicator resulting in a metric of performance that is then compared to
others.
O Dimensions typically measured are quality, time and cost.
O Also referred to as ‘best practice benchmarking’ or ‘process
benchmarking’
O In this process management identifies the best firm in their industry and
compares the results and process of those studied to one’s own results
and process.
4. PROCEDURE FOR
BENCHMARKING
O There is no single benchmarking process that has been adopted
universally. But usually it consists of the following 12 steps:
1. Select subject
2. Define the process.
3. Identify potential partners
4. Identify data sources
5. Collect data and select partners.
6. Determine the gap
7. Establish process differences
8. Target future performance
9. Communicate
10. Adjust goal

1. Continuous improvement : Toyota adopts the concept of continuous
improvement for attracting more and more customers. It examine the needs
of customers and improve the product accordingly.
2. Respect for people: This second pillar has 2 sub-branches-
(1) “Respect” defined as “to respect others and the environment , to build
trust, and to take responsibility” and
(2)”Team work” defined as “to stimulate personal and professional
growth, maximize individual and team performance.”

1. Variety of options: To enhance its popularity and growth, pizza hut
adopt the practice of providing a large variety of options to its
customers. By providing a lot of options to choose, it is able attract a
large variety of customers, especially from teenagers and youngsters
which enhance its popularity and increase its growth rate.
2. Fast work: Pizza hut is famous for the fast delivery. It delivers orders
very fast and the people working there works very fast. Fast delivery
attracts many buyers.

ANTS
1. Social behavior : Ants communicate with each other. They are
considered as most socialized animals. They organize themselves into
perfect social organization to work together. They are thought to have
collective intelligence and work socially to decrease the work load.
2. Team Work: Another practice which ants adopt for the completion of
their task is team work. They work in team i.e. they work for each other.
They spread the feeling of team spirit by applying it in their day-to-day
practices.

INDIAN ARMY
1. Guiding Policy: Indian army formulates policies for completing the
particular task and abides by these policies while performing the task.
2. Clear objectives: Indian army direct every military operation towards a
clearly defined, decisive and attainable objective. They keep their objective
very specific. They are like goal-oriented, working specifically towards the
objects.
9. HARVESTED BEST PRACTICES
FOR OUR COLLEGE
1. Use of solar power: Since our college is situated in Rajasthan where
there is extreme amount of sunlight, the sunlight can be used to
produce electricity instead of using electricity provided by govt. and the
our natural resources can be saved.
2. Rain water harvesting: Rain water can be harvested and used for the
daily purposes which can save tons liters of water for future
consumption and many water crisis could be solved which occur most
of the time in hot summers.
10. INNOVATIVE PRACTICES
FOR THE COLLEGE
1. Developing social behavior: being social can increase the popularity
of the college. Sociality makes good relationships among each other. If
relationships are good, many people recommend for the college and
the college comes into the site of many people. This directly leads to
the good reputation.
2. Good management : good management of the college makes its
environment healthy for both students and authority. So college
authority should try to manage the college premises with rules and
regulations for keeping the environment of the college safe and secure.
Students should also give their full participation in the management of
the college.
11. INNOVATIVE PRACTICES
FOR THE COLLEGE
3. Variety of courses: College can provide a wide range of courses so
that more and more students come to join it. Large amount of students
will increase the economic strength of the college as well as the
reputation of the college.
4. Object-oriented: Both college authorities and students should know
their goals as well as the goals of the college. Management of the
college should prepare specific goals for the enhancement of the
college and should prepare specific steps for their completion. This will
definitely enhance colleges reputation and its integrity.
5. working for improvement : A committee can be formed which
observe every activity foregoing in the premises and finds out the
improvements which should be adopted to make them more better and
implement them at the next time.
12. LESSONS LEARNED!!!
O These are the following lessons learned while preparing for the activity:
1. Learned the specifications of best practices
2. Learned the benefits of best practices for enhancing the organization.
3. Got to know the best practices residents by Toyota, Pizza hut, Indian
Army
and ants.
4. Tried out to find out the best possible harvested and innovative best
practices that can be implemented in our college.
5. Explored new ideas which may implemented in our college.
