13. Lisa found a couple of ways to be different.
First, you should have a noble purpose as to why you’re selling
your product.

people think they should be uber-professional.
It’s worked since I have gotten a few unsolicited invites to job
interviews.
One of those interviews lead to an accepted offer at a

Editor's Notes
Talk about your background in sales and marketing.
When it comes to your career, you have to market and sell your value to potential employers.
LinkedIn is the perfect place to do that.
Show of hands… who thinks this is appropriate for LinkedIn?
But what if I change the context?
This is CG, the owner of a high end bikini brand…
Her target audience is women ages 25-35 with plenty of discretionary income.
For her, it’s easy to find potential customers on LinkedIn.
She’s gained tons of recognition on LinkedIn for promoting a carefree use of the platform….
Plenty of people hate when others stray from the “norm.”
I love Candice’s approach because she has leveraged that hate into publicity…
She’s now contributed to magazines like Inc Magazine and Forbes.
Candice easily got attention because she stood out….

Why? It’s different….
My brand….
A few years ago, I was a sales guy who loved technology….
I got an invite to interview while I wasn’t even looking for a job…
No “looking for new opportunities” etc...
What matters to you?
Who’s your audience?
Lawyers? Stay buttoned up...
Why?
Ask until you can’t ask why….
