AurelioPhilippine Daily InquirerFirst Posted 18:59:00 02/20/2010Filed Under: Robbery and theft, Carjacking, CelebritiesMANILA, Philippines—An SUV registered to a younger brother of Quezon City Councilor Aiko Melendez was stolen Saturday afternoon while the vehicle was parked in front of her house in Quezon City.Police said they have yet to identify the thieves who drove away with the white 2007 Toyota Fortuner registered to Angelo Castaneda, Melendez’s younger brother.Senior Insp Rodelio Marcelo, anti-carnapping chief of the Quezon City Police District, said the Fortuner with plate number ZEV 498 was stolen while parked in front of the councilor’s home on Upsilon St., Alpha Village in Brgy. Old Balara.The theft was discovered at around 12:30 p.m. by driver Ronaldo Jaldo, police said.The driver had just come out of the house to check on the vehicle, which was parked on the street, when he noticed that the vehicle was gone.The theft was then reported to the Batasan police station, which then referred it to the QCPD anti-carnapping unit.<br />
