8. 1) HAVE THE PRODUCTS HANDY
◦ Be prepared! Bring the products everywhere; you never know when someone will need them.
◦ Letting people experience them, is a great way to share them.
◦ WEAR your products – dab on a few drops of some of your favorite oils wherever you go!
2) SEND SAMPLES
◦ Send your friends and people you know samples
◦ Mail or email essential oil information and events in their area
◦ Hand out copies of 216 ways to use Essential Oils
3) BUSINESS CARDS

4) LINK TO YOUR dōTERRA WEBSITE
◦ Send out your website info—attach it to the end of your emails, link it from your other websites.
5) INVITE PEOPLE TO CLASSES
◦ Classes are held multiple times throughout the month in many locations.
◦ Interested in having a class in your area, let your leader know—they will help coordinate one
◦ Practice the PowerPoint presentations available if you don’t have anyone teaching classes in your area and
you want to share it with others.
9. 6) JOIN THE WEEKLY WEBINARS
◦ Held every week (days/times vary) - People can watch them from the comfort of their own home.

11. Your attitude effects your whole team!
Be a good listener. Listen to the questions, concerns, feedback your team members give
you. They reveal ways to help.
Focus on helping others on your team---you are in turn, helping yourself! ALWAYS focus
on your team and how you can help them ---it should never be about ME.
A good rule of thumb…when you are feeling down call up, when you are feeling up call
down.
Always say positive things about other companies (regardless of what you actually think).
Bashing other companies decreases the integrity of our company and doesn’t create an
overall positive feeling. If someone is with another company – accept that they are with a
good company, and just explain why YOU chose dōTERRA.
Never talk badly about one of the leaders in your team, or share your frustrations about
them to members of their team.
12. Teach your team members to be leaders.
Remember: you can’t do everything alone!
Give them the tools and teach them how to duplicate
what you have done.
◦ Make time to organize.
◦ Make time to train others.
◦ Use available tools and resources
Be committed and encourage your team to:
◦ Attend dōTERRA events and webinars
◦ Check the web site, blog and other available tools
◦ Participate in classes and host classes
13. Schedule an initial 1-on-1 meeting to answer questions
Provide a jump drive or share virtually on dropbox of all current, relevant
documents they may need and/or direct them to www.builddoterra.com
Discuss & schedule them hosting a class – plan to teach. By the 2nd class
have them teach half of the class with you (be encouraging). By the 3rd or 4th
class have them teach on their own.
Communicate about events, new ideas, EO experiences (creating a FB or
Google+ group is great for this).
Schedule team gatherings to share ideas, practice presenting, make samples
or whatever seems most appropriate at the time.
Be in touch regularly with information, encouragement & ideas
◦ In person
◦ Phone calls
◦ Emails
REMEMBER – Helping them, helps YOU!
15. DEFINITIONS: ―Enrolling Sponsor‖ vs. ―Placement Sponsor‖?
◦ ―Enrolling Sponsor‖ = person who shares dōTERRA with someone and then signs them up
―Enrolling Sponsor‖ will get the Fast Start Bonus.
◦ ―Placement Sponsor‖ = person under whom the ―Enrolling Sponsor‖ puts the new sign up.
―Placement Sponsor‖ does NOT get the Fast Start Bonus.
TWO DECISIONS TO CONSIDER WHEN SIGNING A NEW PERSON:
◦ Short Term = sign new people up as above and you will get the 20% bonus for everything
they buy their first 60 days.
◦ Longer Term View/Morale Booster for your leaders = You sign up any new people under
your leaders as ―Enrolling Sponsor‖ vs just ―Placement Sponsor‖.
If you plan to move up in the company at the higher levels, those under you must have Enrolled and Placed
their team members in this manner.
You will forfeit the 20% Fast Start Bonus on this person, but you will benefit from it eventually in the
Fast Start Bonus breakdown of 20%, 10%, 5%, 3%.
Helps build excitement and momentum for your new leader’s business and income, because they are
getting a paycheck!
16. Enroller = is the owner and

Sponsor = the placement of

17. PV = Personal Volume, or the value
of your personal purchases. It is a
point system that helps the
company manage foreign exchange
rates and profit margins
(this includes your purchases,
preferred customers and retail)
OV = Overall Volume and represents
the cumulative personal purchases
of your entire team.

Calculated with “Dynamic Compression”
You can be paid up to seven levels down, and up to 7% of sales for a
month.
◦ If anyone on any of your levels for some reason decides not to purchase anything during a
certain month, but they have people under them who did, the levels compress up.
Which means, you will get paid 7 levels deep (if you qualify) regardless of whether one of your team
members orders anything that month or not.
◦ If someone on your 3rd level doesn't purchase anything during the month, your level 4
compresses up to be your new level 3, and your level 5 compresses up to be your new level 4,
and this continues until you get paid 7 levels deep.

Editor's Notes
Just as doTERRA has a mission statement or teams have mission statements, individuals need to take the time to find their “WHY” for doing doTERRA as a business. This should be put on a vision board where it can be constantly seen so you don’t lose you’re reminded daily of your focus. Hopefully most of you know what a vision board is, if not ask your leader. You can purchase a book called Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action by Simon Sinek (amazon $10.20 free shipping)
One of the first things you should do, if you haven’t already done so, is visit doTERRA University www.doterrauniversity.com watch the videos and take the 10 question quiz. You want to encourage each one of your new business builders to do the same. This is a great place to get started learning!
You will also need to purchase business tools. These are sold separately from doTERRA. At minimum you will need sample bottles ¼ dram are the small vials and 5/8 dram are the next larger size that fit in the key chains. You will need to also purchase extra labels for the sample bottles as you go thru them quickly. You’ll need to purchase a tear sheet to teach a class and some reference guides like A-Z, mini ME, ME Reference Card or Essential Oils 101 . This will allow you to provide samples and information to people on how to use the oils. There is also a new resource tool that I highly recommend that all business builders get and that is the doTERRA Pro Binder $40 that will really give you a solid foundation in building your business.
Please be aware the shipping on these sites for people outside the contiguous 48 states will come up very expensive, but keep going thru the check out process and there is a box you can check for “get me lower shipping” check it. There is also a comment box where you can ask for the lowest shipping possible and request they send you an updated invoice with the adjusted shipping via e-mail and they will do this. My Oil Business has a “book of the month club” you can join that will provide good direct marketing business, personal growth, etc. books. For folks just starting out I would recommend The Purple Cow and Making the First Circle Work books (aromatools).
Have samples in your purse, diaper bag, gym bag, etc. I use both small plastic zip bags with samples and a-z guides or the lemon, lavender, peppermint card that the sample bottles attach to (can find on my oil business) they are business card size. Also don’t forget to have your contact information on the material you hand out. You want to be sure when you leave your house you’re work presentable…because undoubtedly you will end up sharing with someone! There are opportunities everywhere.Always give out samples at classes to people who haven’t received them. It’s helpful to be prepared with samples already made up before class. I will send trio kits (introductory kits) to people out of state with additional info. I choose 2-3 people a month to share outside of my immediate area. If you have someone you know is interested in the business opportunity consider giving them a Modern Essentials Book, trio kit, comp plan and business opportunity brochure. FB is the most widely used method of notifying people of events. But please remember not everyone uses FB and so you will want to keep track of the people you will need to e-mail or mail information to. Brochure found on AromaTools $3.953) Be sure you have Independent Product Consultant on your business card (any time you use doTERRA).
8) Some people find this a more comfortable avenue than others. One thing to remember is even if the business establishment is not interested in doTERRA some of the staff may be.
1) 4 bullet – Go take a look at the product guide carefully if you haven’t there is so much information in there. Use one for yourself that you tag and highlight for reference when sharing with others.
1) People are missing the mark on this very important key item because they don’t realize how quickly they become leaders. Teaching others to lead will do so many wonderful things. It helps that person to grow, gain confidence, gives them pride in themselves and the work they’re doing, etc. Don’t do the work for your leaders. Help/assist of course. Be sure to recognize the difference between enabling and helping. Trust and respect that the leaders who are engaged are capable of leading! REMEMBER people will duplicate what you do! Lead the way you want your leaders to lead. This is a key component to building a strong team.
1) If 1-on-1 can’t be done in person try skype, google+, or the like as a next option. If that is not a possibility call on the phone. 3) There is a information out there on class scripts that a person can use if they don’t feel this is their strength (www.fasttrackplanner.com/script.htm)4) This is great for morale!
Use the first contact rule. Encourage your team to be respectful of the person who had first contact with an individual and provided them samples. When talking with people if it sounds like they have heard of doTERRA ask them “has someone talked with you about doTERRA? Shared samples with you?” It is the customers choices in the end who they want to sign up with, but it says a lot about you, your team and doTERRA to act with integrity. Teach this to your team. My recommendation is to only place 1 person in this manner when your team is young and work with your builders to build their team. Once your team is more established you will have better ability to place more people in this manner.
As your business grows you will start to enroll and place business builders on your team in your downline.
This is something you want to teach your builders fairly quickly. They need to understand how to place customers. This is a critical key component to a stable and successful team. Please spend the time working with your builders to understand placements. There are webinars available to watch that explains placement.
The Pay period is from Monday thru Sunday. Payday is Wednesday. All other commissions and bonus’ are paid on the 15th of the month.
Residual income is created from the sales of products from customers who continue to purchase from month to month. And doTERRA has a higher than average retention rate of customers. If a poll were to be taken, it would find most people have little to no savings. Most people can’t or don’t save up enough money to have a large sum to invest. This makes it hard to have an account for retirement purposes. Earning a $50 residual income is equivalent to 8,000 in bank earning 7%. Earning a $250 residual income is Earning a $1500 monthly residual income even if it takes you a few years can be more than what people are able to save working over their lifetime. Having 240,000 in a retirement fund that you spend the majority of your life paying into to get a $1500 dollar a month check seems laborous when you can reasonably have the same or possibly more in residual income in a few years.Tell story Aunt Kathleen.
I strongly encourage IPC’s to enroll customers vs sending people to their website to purchase. This does a number of things: 1) it provides customer service 2) it ensures the customer doesn’t make data entry errors that take time for you to fix 3) it allows you to set up a LRP/Monthly Order for the customer….more than likely this will not happen if they register thru your site 4) you’re choosing the correct account option (this can be confusing). I personally only have retail customers order from my site.
The next webinar is Tomorrow night: Healing Oils of the Bible Class taught by Desi Baker @ 6pm AKST, 7 PST, 8 MST, 9 CST, 10 EST if you can’t make this one the next one will be next Tuesday the 12th @6pm AKST Medicine Cabinet Makeover. Be sure to invite anyone you know who might be interested in learning about essential oils.
