1. Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Activity Leadership
Is the Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Activity Leadership (QCF) for me?
If you are over 16 years of age, working in an activity leadership role and would like to gain a
nationally recognised qualification in activity leadership, then the 1st4sport Level 2 NVQ
Certificate in Activity Leadership (QCF) is designed for you.
What will I learn?
Your learning and assessment programme will depend on the activity leadership you are
working in or have access to.
Mandatory units – you must achieve all of these units:
Support the work of your team and organisation
Prepare for activity sessions
Lead activity sessions
Conclude and review activity sessions
Promote health, safety and welfare in active leisure and recreation
Support equality and diversity in active leisure and recreation
Optional units – you must achieve a minimum of two of these units:
Administer finance and information
Contribute to joint working with other organisations
Support the development of the sport or activity
Set up, take down and store activity equipment
Check and service activity equipment
Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
Look after participants when they are away from home
Contribute to participants’ personal and social development
How will my learning programme be structured?
The learning programme will include the following phases:
an induction to the qualification and your programme of learning and assessment
a learning programme which meets your needs and the qualification requirements
a programme of assessment, spread throughout the course, including observations of you
carrying out your duties as an activity leader.
At the end of the programme, you will be provided with formal feedback on your
performance and an action plan for your further development.
2. What will my assessment involve?
You will be required to demonstrate your competence on more than one occasion in all of
your chosen units. This will involve a mixture of observation of performance, product
evidence, witness testimony and questioning.
