3. SECTION B : SUMMARY
Read the passage below carefully. Then answer the question that follows.
Statistics have often shown that most of the road users
involved in road accidents are schoolchildren.
There are several cases where accidents are caused by
children cycling abreast and playing along the road, crossing
behind parked vehicles, carrying pillion riders, running across the
road without paying much attention to the traffic or alighting from
moving buses.
Children should therefore be taught the importance of safety
both at home and in schools. Schools, especially, can do a lot to
promote this through exhibitions. Regular demonstrations by
police can help instill a greater awareness of the importance of
road safety.
Write a summary on the ways to reduce road accidents involving schoolchildren.
Your summary must:
not be more than 60 words, including the 10 words given below
be in continuous writing (not note form)
be written in ONE paragraph
Use your own words as far as possible without changing the original meaning.
Begin your summary as follows:

Question 1 : Poem
Read the poem below and answer the following questions.
The River
The river’s a wanderer,
A nomad, a tramp.
He doesn't choose any one place
To set up his camp.
The river’s a winder,
Through valley and hill
He twists and he turns,
He just cannot be still.
The river’s a hoarder,
And he buries down deep
Those little treasures
That he wants to keep.
The river’s a baby,
He gurgles and hums,
And sounds like he’s happily
Sucking his thumbs.
The river’s a singer,
As he dances along,
The countryside echoes
The notes of his song.
The river’s a monster,
Hungry and vexed,
He’s gobbled up trees
And he’ll swallow you next.
